I'm on holiday, I have health anxiety, I've finished a high dose of steroids for asthma and now I have right hand side stomach pain!

Feeling pretty down and fed up.

A couple of weeks ago I went to hospital with chest pain and wheezing and was told I was having an asthma attack. I generally have very mild and well controlled asthma. Was given two week high dose course of pred (steroids, predisnole I think is how you spell it) and new inhalers etc.

Suffered through two weeks of dreadful side effects taking steroids.

Came away on holiday (in U.K.) two days ago having finished steroids and I'm feeling so awful Sad I now have what feels like a bruised feeling on my right hand side / right hip area and I'm now feeling completely paranoid it's appendicitis....!

I have been swimming today with the dc and done so much walking, and I don't feel nauseous or have an upset stomach etc - the area just feels bruised. But then tenderness and joint pain etc can be a sign of stopping strong steroids..

I really don't want to ruin this holiday for the dc. Of course if I have to then I'll seek medical help but if anyone out there has any words of wisdom or reassurance that would be nice... Sad

Doing googling everything says if you don't feel nauseous or have a high temperature then it's probably just trapped wind or whatever. I really hope that's the case.

Don't have anything helpful to say re medical advice, however as a fellow health anxiety sufferer I hope that you can get the appropriate advice about your discomfort and enjoy the rest of your holiday. Flowers

Appendicitis is more of a sharp pain, I think. But can you nip to a pharmacy and ask for advice?

If you're up and about, walking and eating normally, there's probably not much wrong, but if you're worried then get advice.

Thank you both for the replies.

I've just come out of the local gp who saw me as a temporary patient and I've got shingles....! Sad I had what I thought were some insect bites on my side and mentioned it and she said it's definitely shingles and explains the other symtoms.
