Rosacea!

Hi all,

I'm looking for some more treatments/ideas for Rosacea. My GP prescribed Zineryt and I've been trying the off the shelf Superdrug one but I'm really at a loss because despite trying both for at least 4 weeks, I have seen absolutely no difference.

I am really struggling with it and have done for 2 years, but particularly as I haven't had any relief periods for about 6 months+ and it's really itchy at the moment because of the heat.

So yeah, just some of your ideas would be great.

Have you tried the antibiotics? I don't like taking them but they did help my rosacea. Alternatively, Soolantra gets very good reviews on rosacea sites I use- it's just become available in the U.K.,

If you use Facebook, look at Rosacea in English group/ you'll need to ask to join. It's very helpful and informative.

I have struggled with rosacea for years, it really improved after a 10 week course of antibiotics for a breast infection. Problem was the rosacea was as bad as ever two weeks after I finished the course.
I tried to get Ivermectin cream prescribed but GP was adamant it wasn't licensed for humans even though the NHS website said otherwise!

I get azelaic acid on prescription, which helps. Before that I had metro gel which I didn't get on with. Paula's choice products have been helpful too, expensive but would recommend them. Also, obviously, stay out of the sun.

You could try alternative facials ....LED photo therapy is a light based facial which has some good results.

I've been prescribed a 6 month course of antibiotics (erythromycin) the difference is unbelievable!

My uncle has rosacea and his doctor prescribed him Lymecycline which I believe is an antibiotic. Maybe ask your doctor about prescribing an antibiotic?

Probably not enough for you, but worked for me. When i have an outbreak i make a paste out of ready brek and smear it on my skin which takes the sting out of it, then I wash with it twice a day and I find it really helps. The prescribed gel just made it worse for me. But it had to be ready brek and not just oats! Its cheap to try at least.
