A question about chicken pox

I think my eldest son has got chicken pox. I have had it myself, but am meant to be doing a jewellery party on Thursday night attendend by quite a few pregnant women.

This is the advice from NHS re pregnant women, but what it doesn't tell me, is can I pass it on to a pregnant woman if my children have it, but I don't?

NHS:
If a woman comes into contact with chickenpox or shingles when pregnant, there is no problem if she has had it before, because it makes the body immune to it (re-infection is rare). This means the baby is not at risk of chickenpox even if the mother develops shingles during pregnancy.

Any pointers anyone? I definitely don't want to infect anyone if there is a possibility (obviously I'll be talking to any of the mothers to see if they've had CP before.)

I think as long as they don't come into contact with your son (or anyone else about to get CP) they are OK. You are not infectious yourself.

I asked my doctor this, when my two had chicken pox. You cannot carry the virus. If they do not come into contact with him then they can't get it from you, or contact with your house or things that he has touched.

Hope this helps, enjoy the party

You are not infectious, both mine had it a few weeks ago and I was working in Theatres at the time. I told work but they said there was no risk as long as I had had it. HTH

Ah that's a relief. I did think that might be the case, but I wasn't 100%.

Thanks everyone!!
