So in January, I had kidney pain that didn't go with antibiotics, and no infection found. Feb, the GP sent me to A & E for a kidney scan, suspecting kidney stones. Nothing found, so sent home.
A couple of weeks later, a mystery letter appeared saying I had an appointment with an endocrinologist. At the appointment the endo said that a small (1cm) benign adenoma had been found on my left adrenal gland - wasn't going to do anything, but given the symptoms I'd been having (headaches, nausea, dizziness, etc) he would run some tests. Tests came back showing low cortisol levels, but not much else abnormal.
So he then booked me for short synachten, which has apparently come back normal. I'm not due to see him now until August, as my follow-up appointment in June was postponed, but my symptoms are still there and getting worse. Every morning I wake between 3-5am with kidney pain, and this morning I've been very nauseous again, and a bit teary with the pain (despite taking 2 paracetamol and 1 Naproxen at 4 am). The last time I felt this awful I rang the GP who told me to ring an ambulance - the ambulance turned up an hour later, and said I just had a tummy bug, which had made my chronic condition worse and there no point in taking me in. (I did recover, so they were probably right to not take me in.)
The thing is, is that while I get episodes of feeling dreadful, it's not so dire that I feel I need to go to the hospital, and that if it were an Addison's crisis I'd be puking/shitting myself and having a seizure/passing out, but I've got four children to look after, two with autism, and the Naproxen doesn't actually seem to be helping? Should I go back to the GP if there's really not much they can do?
