Anyone else had a smear test result of boderline changes in endocervical cells?

Because I'm really freaking out! I had a results letter this week saying that I have been referred for colposcopy due to boderline changes in endocervical cells - the appointment is in three weeks time so obviously quite a quick appointment.

Finding it difficult to find any info on this online as it seems that this is quite a rare thing so just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and could offer any advice?

Thanks in advance

I had borderline changes on about 5 smear tests as a youngster. I had to have a smear every 6 months for a couple of years and like you, I was very anxious.

They did mention that hormone changes could affect results which I can only presume was my problem as they went back to normal after a while.

Hope that puts your mind at rest a little...

My first smear test came back like that and I had the colposcopy too. Nothing to worry about at all, everything was fine after that. Just something they had to do when u have abnormal cells.

You usually have them every 3 years but because of that I've had them yearly, last years was fine and this year will have to be skipped due to pregnancy.

Don't worry too much, I'm sure everything will be fine Smile

i had exactly the same as Waitress- abnormal cells, so had smears every 6 mths for about 3 years. All was well and this was 26 years ago. Absolutely no consequences at all. Try not to worry!

Don't worry about the 3 weeks - guidelines are 2 weeks for urgent cases and 4 weeks for low grade/borderline. It's very likely that the doctor will take a look and just want a further check in 6 months - and by this time the majority of cases at your level will have gone back to normal without any other intervention at all. You really don't have anything to worry about (ex colposcopy worker).

Thanks so much for all the replies, really helps me to feel less alone in this!
