When DD 2 1/2 seems excited or running about etc her lips get cold and turn blue.

Should I be worried?

Oooh thats a circulation thing, my dd's very avtive and her lips don't turn blue (only when she's in anaphylactic shock, but its not that don't worry) I'd ask your gp

My ds gets blue lips sometimes too.
Asked HV about it - she said ask the gp, hopefully will see them soon.

I'd talk to your GP sooner rather than later. One possible explaination is that she is not getting enough oxygen to her lips which could be due to problems with her breathing or circulation. I am sure that there are many other less serious reasons for this but I would get checked out sooner rather than later.

Hi dd3 is like this blue lips often and gets very very hot (glowing red) in the warmer weather. Her circulation systems is probably just particularly immature compared to your typical 2.5yr old. I would actually recommend popping in to a walk in centre as they have an oxygen saturation machine and get her checked out that way. Have say my dd was 3 in August and this winter I haven't noticed it all so she must have grown out of it.

One of my trio was always turning blue, and after the sudden death of my son in 94 I was terrified. Took him for several tests and it turned out he was severely aneamic, put n medication for 6 months and now has rosy cheeks and no sign of blueness, try not to worry.

my dd gets this alot and i;ve mentioned it umpteen times and no-one seems that concerned. Saw a new gp recently who I happened to mention it too and he explained that it is the extremities [sp] that get cold and not to worry. However, if the tongue goes blue, thats a different matter. Still worries me though. hth

DD had this when she was little. But not only was it her lips, but the whole of her from the waist down. We took her to A and E lots of times about it and the GP but nobody could ever find a reason for it. It was just one of those things she grew out of in the end, but I agree if you're worried, get it checked out.
