My son needs his eyes checked - any recommendations before I randomly choose one?
Thanks!

Which son?

JJ, I went to Dolland and Aitchison in the City, last week, and they were fine. I've gone to random optometrists in Docklands, and they were fine, too.

(Does school not give them eye tests? DS1's school does this automatically, en masse.)

(Oh, I wouldn't go to Specsavers, though, as I found them really unreliable and strange.)

Thanks! The school flagged it up but they don't do mass testing. There's a Dolland and Aitchison in Hackney, so I'll go there. Could go to the one on London Wall though and then get sushi afterward at K10 which sounds tempting and would be a treat for both of us. Hmm - decisions, decisions.

If you want a really high-quality eye checkup, go to the paediatric optometry clinic at City University . That's where we were recommended to go when dd1 was discharged from Moorfields. It's a teaching clinic, so you get students watching, but you won't get a more thorough check anywhere, and the optometrists are invariably lovely.

Thanks frogs, that's fab, I'll take him there. Have no problem with students watching - I gave birth to him in a teaching hospital. 'Thorough' is a good word for that experience although I realise you meant something slightly different!

Glad to hear of that place, frogs, will log it if anything is raised from eye checks on my guys.

(JJ, any chance we can lure you along to the East London meet, Monday after next?)

My sil, her husband and their 3 boys (10yo and 8 yo twins) will be staying with us then. The night out sounds good, but I'd best stay here and do the hostess thing. Thanks for the invite, though.
