No, not the oilatum- wrecks havoc on my skin.

ASk at a decent department store for a hypoallergenic oil free moisturiser.

these are good

wilkie50 · 16/03/2007 21:53

Def not Oilatum!! IMO GPs are crap at diagnosing and dealing with skin complaints. I would ask to be referred to a dermatologist if poss.

vvvvvvv · 16/03/2007 21:53

well im a nutter thinking about it as i use a givenchy foundaction cream then apply this other foundaction witch is also a cream over the top thats number 7 producti know im mad as thats probley the cause as its too much going on my skin i started doing that as i couldnt get the colour i wanted and by using both it came out ok i really think it is that causing it now thinking about it. do you? also i never had any problem before i started doing that?

No 7 - Nooooooo!! It's not the greatest stuff in the world (foundation wise) and definately applying two products over top of each other will irritate even the least sensitive skin.

PeachyClair · 16/03/2007 21:56

Why are you wearing 2 foundations? Skin needs to 'breathe'

vvvvvvv · 16/03/2007 21:59

peachyclir coz im mad i know not to any more do you think thas whats been causing it if so why would it just be on my chin tho? it dont look bad just like the benging of aspot with out the head but its spread and really itches

When my skin flares due to a product change it tends to be around my jawline and forehead - doesn' have to be all over your face - you can get isolated patches

wilkie50 · 16/03/2007 22:03

BTW, the camouflage make up I used for my wedding covered my acne really well but the next day my skin was SOOOOOO sore and itchy because it was very heavy to give good coverage - your poor face has had thick foundation on it! Why not try without foundation for a few days, just dab concealer where you need it and leave any make up off your chin. Just use a light weight oil free moisturiser.

vvvvvvv · 16/03/2007 22:05

wilkie yes i will do. do you think thats what it is? it really itches on the red spot like with out the head looking thing.lol and spreads. should i keep using the oilatum?

OP posts:
vvvvvvv · 16/03/2007 22:05

what should i try?

To be honest, there's no way I can tell without looking, and even though (many years ago) I trained in make up and skin care, even then- you can't tell by just looking, you have to eliminate things and try other stuff.

I would buy a good, hypoallergenic face wash and just use that for a week at least, see how that goes. Then you can gradually try to reintroduce things. One thing at a time, and nthing new for a few days after that.

The wedding- how I would play it is thus: go to either a health shop or a decent department store and buy hypoallergenic stuff you want to wear (don't rely on a make up artist having the right things. She can apply if you like, but stick to ehat you know). Then every week after the clear up week- IF that works (if not insist on a referral to a dermatologist) add one of those items.

Don't try anything else, just focus on what you need for the wedding right now. And take it slowly. First itch or anything, bin it and give the skin a break before trying something esle.

try light things too- tinted moisturiser perhaps.

wilkie50 · 16/03/2007 22:08

Def stop the Oilatum. I'm not sure what else to suggest. As I say, I use Dermalogica Active Moist which is really light weight and doesn't irritate the skin.

Might be worth speaking to a pharmacist in your local chemist. If it's an allergic reaction then the Hydrocortisone (HC) cream mentioned earlier is excellent but apply sparingly just to the irritated area.

vvvvvvv · 16/03/2007 22:09

yep i will take your word for it.im just stuck as the doc told me to use the oilatum dont know if that will help or make things worse??any idear

I would definetly recomend that you go back to your GP and asked to be referred to a dermatologist. They specialise in skin problems and would know best. I wouldn't try over the counter medicnes as some might agrevate it...Im sure they'd prescirbe a oitment which would clear it right up

mommajools · 16/03/2007 22:14

vvvvvvv - are you worried about the spot/lump being visible in your wedding photos? If your photographer is using digital = have a word and see if they will be able to retouch any images where it is visible. I do this for my brides if they have a blemish come up that cant be hidden by make up.

vvvvvvv · 16/03/2007 22:16

well its not that im going to dominica to get married on the beach and just dont want it there at all. i just dont know if to carry on using the cream that the doc gave me oilatum or stop as it itches it. right now it feels like its stinging and itching at the same time like frobbing if you understand that?
