or will I just be bugging them?

I am sure not all parents inform them - is it cos its iunneccessary or they are shy/embaressed/whatever?

Dd's school (infants) likes to be notified so that they can send out letters to other parents. Ds's school (juniors) don't do anything with the information, so it's not worth bothering to notify them.

Ask at the school office, they will be able to tell you what school policy is.

i do, i had gotten that sick of clearing my DD's hair and her getting them straight back again because other parents were doing nothing about it. if any of the parents inform the school, a sign goes up in the window to inform all the parents to check hair. some still dont bother i would imagine but there is not much more you can do.

juuule · 16/03/2007 13:48

I used to but it didn't make any difference so now I don't and we just plod on treating any infestations when they occur.

Danielle3 · 16/03/2007 13:52

i got that sick of it my 2 oldest have short bobs and i use a head-lice repellent spray, they haven't had them since (touch wood)

Blandmum · 16/03/2007 13:52

yes, you should tel them

Lucycat · 16/03/2007 13:54

yes of course - you'd want to know wouldn't you?

BarefootDancer · 16/03/2007 14:38

I told the school, and they did nothing about it. Found out later the teacher had them - dc probably caught them off her

TenaLady · 16/03/2007 14:41

Yes do tell the school. Your lo will only return clean to get another dose if an attempt isnt made to notify all. Having said that I do know some mothers who dont bother to clear it

BettySpaghetti · 16/03/2007 14:45

Yes, tell them - either way IME your DS/DD is bound to go in and announce it to anyone who is listening anyway -young children seem to think its something to be proud of "Mrs Smith, Mrs Smith! Guess what? I've got nits!"!

Whizzz · 16/03/2007 14:45

Yes - tell the school - as a TA I don't want them!

WideWebWitch · 16/03/2007 14:54

I wouldn't, I'd just deal with it. If evry parent informed them every time they'd be dealing with a never ending stream of letters.

I never do. I always assume that there are always headlice going around the school somewhere anyway and check once a week or 2 anyway.

SlightlyMadScientist · 16/03/2007 17:57

TY - sorry for the rude disappearance. I went to the bathroom then DP came home and hogged the PC!!!

I agree with the majority - but I know that DTDs friend has had them and I don't think she informed school - as we didn't get the usual letter...which I was a bit annoyed about. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't bugging them (no pun intended) when I go in to tell them!!!

I actually believe it is right to tell them. DTD has obviously got them from someone in the class/school as she hasn't socialised with anyone likely to have them in the last week since teh last check - therefore there is obviously someone else in the class that has passed them to her and needs treating IYSWIM...

Will go in on Monday now that I have confirmed she definately has them...
