Any advice for a 13 week old with diarrhoea while I wait for a callback from the GP?

She doesn't have a temperature, but her nappy contents are watery, greenish and foul smelling. This has occurred since this morning.

She is mostly b/f although she had a 4oz bottle last night at around 7pm

I have been feeding her regularly and for longer then normal to try to prevent dehydration

I have dioralyte (sp?) but don't want to use it unless the GP says it's ok

If she's feeding and isn't unwell then I would imagine he will say continue as you are doing. You don't need to give dioralyte as she seems to be well hydrated if she is feeding like you say. Hope she is better soon

thanks - she does seem to have tummy pain, so I hope it's a shortlived upset tummy

aww poor little thing, it's horrible when they are ill isn't it? She's only 13 weeks old is this the first time she's been unwell?

margo1974 · 14/03/2007 18:38

She has had a cold but that's all.

I'm sure she'll be ok, are you ok?

margo1974 · 14/03/2007 18:47

I'm okay - thank you for asking McDreamy. I don't worry half as much as I did with my first. She had only just settled for a sleep 20 mins ago. She has had only 2 very short naps since 8 this morning. Poor little lamb. Although my firstborn didn't get any illnesses until she was a year old.

on another subject - have sky plussed the new series of Greys. If ever you lose interest in Dr McDreamy, let me know and I'll take your place!

Let me know what the doctor says otherwise I will woryy about you and DD all night

margo1974 · 14/03/2007 18:59

Ihope they will ring back - surgery has closed. I did this before and I got a callback at about 8pm. Now I am off to put DD1 to bed as she hasn't slept today and she is teething and has a cold as well. She needs a good cuddle and a story!

DD2 has just woken from another short nap but has given me a beaming smile

Just settled DD1 down, and the GP has just rung. She said that if she is still having wet nappies - which she is- she is not dehydrated. So will keep topping up tonight.

Now, when you go to bed you can dream of Dr McDreamy and not worry about us.

But thank you - I really did appreciate your help

So glad to hear the GP thinks she is ok. Has that reassured you? (It has me ) Hop you have a reasonable night!

bundle · 14/03/2007 19:19

margo, also tears and wet inside of mouth are good indicators that she's hydrated. hope you have a good night, x

margo1974 · 14/03/2007 19:52

Yes - I am reassured

Thanks for the tips re. tears as well Bundle, never knew that
