2 posts - ccan't do long ones

Background: Ds always has had problems with his stomach which drs label as colic or a general intolernce to food (i.e. nothing they can do about it). We put ds on gluten/wheat/cow's milk free diet (without dr's guidance). Ds still suffers from constipation but stomach not always swollen and painful. Ds also has big problems with food and eating as associates it with pain.

Took ds off diet to see what happened about 10 days ago. Yesterday my parents ended up rushing him to drs. He was screaming in lots of pain and very distressed. He was sick a few times. Dr concerned cos doesn't seem to be bug, cos of the pain.

Mum takes ds back today - dr worried cos of lumps in his stomach/abdomen. They don't know if its constipation (but had 5-6 huge poos yesterday) or something else. They also don't know why he was sick - whether it was something to do with pain or spasms in his stomach/gut. Asking about changes in diet.

Ds back at drs on tuesday to see if lumps are still there, if they are we will get reffered to consultant.

I think this is due to the change in diet so do I take him off the foods again or leave him on them and see what happens next week.

We have been asking them to look into his stomach for over 18months now. They refused, why does it come to this before they will even think about it

Really don't know what to do anymore.

Is he still in pain?

TheArmadillo · 14/03/2007 16:30

not constantly and not as bad.

But he's been in pain on and off for a long time with his stomach and I'm not sure he makes a fuss unless it is unbearable anymore.

He's really tired though.

Tough decision. If you change his diet, he may be fine by the time you get to see the doctor and you might not get the referral you want. If you don't, he might suffer unnecessary pain.

Can you speak to the doctor and see if he will definitely be referred in any event? If so, I would change his diet.

speaking to the dr is good idea. Thanks.

You're right about the problem. Between a rocka dn a hard place it feels like. Its not nice to see him being ill, and not nice for him.
