Swimming on a period: Why has no-one invented swim nappies for adults?

Sincere question. I can't wear tampons and am on a lovely beach holiday where my bleeding menses have begun?! Why can't we have swimming nappies too?

Because swimming nappies only catch lumps, not liquid?

xStefx · 09/05/2017 13:34

I cant wear tampons either and am on the implant (contraceptive) but I do take the pill for a little while around my holidays if im due to have my period to make sure i don't have it whilst there. It can be a pain. Hope you manage to enjoy your holiday.

As pp sai, swim nappies dont actually keep wee in. Someone has invented period underwear that can also be used as swimwear though (so basically your idea) but as they point out in the FAQs, probably more for sunbathing than swimming. www.shethinx.com/pages/faq

There are swim nappies for adults, but as has been pointed out, they are for those with fecal incontinence.

PookieDo · 09/05/2017 14:03

You can take hormone tablets to delay your period - my daughter was just prescribed them

dementedma · 09/05/2017 14:04

Because they would look stupid?

dementedma · 09/05/2017 14:06

And before I get flamed, I don't mean swim nappies for adults or older children with SN.
I'm talking about trying to wear a swimsuit/bikini over padded underwear for periods.

I don't mind that so much since I would wear a skirt or something on top. Can't take pills for various reasons that are too long to describe. Thanks for the link allegretto, Will check them out 😊

There are swim pads for swimming. My ggd used to wear them. They are thin but sufficient. You will have to wear them with a legged costume. Always was the company that did them.

hopsalong · 09/05/2017 14:49

If you're swimming in the sea, then unless flow is massively heavy I should think you can manage with a bikini with a strategically arranged towel and change of underwear at the water's edge!

picklemepopcorn · 09/05/2017 15:05

Menstrual cup works, apparently.

Toff9 · 09/05/2017 15:43

Thanks for that, do you know what they were called by any chance?

tobee · 09/05/2017 17:49

More importantly, why do they always turn up on holiday?

Toff9 · 10/05/2017 06:30

Exactly! Last period was 6 weeks ago and Sod's law is mine happens to come now! 😡
