DP has always been self conscious about his teeth (why it wasn't sorted as a kid I don't know) and now we have a little more disposable income, he is thinking of getting them straightened. He has done quite a lot of research and is thinking Invisalign may be the way to go.

Has anyone or their friends/family had Invisalign treatment? Did it work and were they pleased with the results? Was it worth the cost and have the results lasted? How painful was it and would you recommend it?

He is considering using Dr Graham Tinkler at London Clear Braces. If anyone has by chance also used him, any reviews etc would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. I used Invisalign about 8 years ago. It was fabulous and I would recommend it to anyone. You get a new clear brace every fortnight...sometimes the new one was a bit achy for a day as it was tighter...but nothing that an over the counter pain killer couldn't deal with. You have to remove the braces to eat so it stops you picking between meals and made me lose about a stone. You can only drink water with them in...so again a coffee or glass of wine was gouged down quickly with a meal. It sounds a bit restrictive but you soon get used to it and the results are worth it.
My orthodontist is in Dorset so I can't comment on yours...mine was great though.
All in all it was a positive experience and I now love my teeth.

I'd caution against being set on one type of brace. I wanted Invisalign. had one consultation and that dentists charged me £90 for impressions to be sent off, pending length of treatment. I wasn't sure (thought I may have been relocating...) then some years later asked my new dentist who looked and said my teeth were not suitable for Invisalign- too crowded- so would need extractions and a fixed brace. I didn't fancy that but there is always a 3rd opinion I suppose.

I got incognito braces - train tracks behind the teeth so totally invisible.

Thanks for the feedback folks! It's useful to get real life opinions.

Strongly advise you to go to a specialist Orthodontist -at least for the initial opinion.
It's very important for your husband to check the GDC website , and make sure their clinician is on the GDC Orthodontic Specialist list-it will literally take your DH 3seconds to check.
Invisalign is not a "one size fit all" treatment; like another poster says. Effective when particular criteria is met-no way for your husband to know this except from a Specialist input.

I got a free consultation and it turned out it was much more expensive than I thought. I also needed an extraction and significant dental work done first. I might do it at some point but realised my teeth probably weren't that bad!

I'm about a quarter of the way through my Invisalign treatment and can't recommend it enough. The Clin check you get with it is great as it gives you a video of how your teeth will move with each aligner. It was hard for the first few days as I had quite a dry mouth and felt a bit self conscious but seriously not one person has noticed (and I have attachments). I've got used to brushing my teeth after every meal and it's also been a benefit as I've given up snacking between meals. I used the same orthodontist as my DD had and all going well.
