Hi all, I've made a follow up appointment with my doctor and need some help on what I need to be asking.

I have been extremely tired, always freezing cold, shortness of breath and anxiety. I had blood tests, which I believe were TFS and full bloods, which came back normal.

However what do I need to check that they tested for, i.e. Ferritin, b vits to see if they have missed anything?

Thanks

Sorry to hear you've been feeling so rough.

Ask them for a print out of your results so you can see where they fall in the reference ranges, and post here for opinions and advice if you'd like. GPs are legendary for believing a test result 'in range' means everything is fine and is superior to the patient's report of symptoms and problems.

Given your symptoms it would be especially relevant to see TSH and T4, Hb, ferritin, folate, B12, Vitamin D.

Does anyone in your family have any autoimmune conditions?

How long have you felt like this and how thorough were your blood tests in relation to your thyroid gland?. I would try and obtain a copy of your blood test results.

It could well be that your thyroid gland is underactive (the symptoms in your second paragraph could point to a thyroid problem).

I have been like this for years on end and had the basic blood tests in the past but never pushed further. The only thing I am aware of in the family is that my nan has anemia. I shall get a print out and also ask for further testing if there is anything obvious that you have mentioned I can see that has been missed.

I did speak with the doctor about it being thyroid and she said the blood test would check for that, on googling the forms I had when I got home I think it was Tfs, I couldn't see reference to T3.
