I am going to the GP tomorrow to beg her to put me on the min-pill

Can she refuse?

I am early 30's, average BMI if that helps.

I cannot take any ore of my periods. They are heavy, so heavy that I am starting to get embarrassed. They are painful, especially the bloating and last 10 days.

More importantly, the PMS is insane. I eel like in a month I have 5 good days, then the rest I am a hormonal mess, crying over stupid stuff, getting frustrated with myself or just generally feeling bleugh.

Any advice welcome. I have spoken to friends who have said that the mini-pill ahs helped their symptoms. I have not been on any contraception in 12 years though, will that we a problem?

I take Cerazette and haven't had a single period since the day started taking it, it's great (for me anyway!).

I'm not sure why not having been on any contraception for 12 years would matter, I was nearly 40 when I started taking this pill and had never taken one before.

I just wondered whether she would want to start me off on something else first?

Mini pill can also cause erratic bleeding. Have you considered the combined pill?

twocockers · 02/05/2017 14:36

Cerazette was the work to of the devil for me and many others - but then the work of angels for others.

Unfortunately all the mini pills gave me horrible pmt and headaches do it might not be the best solution. See what the doc advises - don't be focussed on any one type.

They may even suggest the mirena coil as it can help with bleeding issues

I had minipill for exactly same reasons and basically bled alot more, its trial and error really but combined pill or minipill tend to be first line medication options after lifestyle factors have been tried. They also sometimes prescribe something to lesson the bleeding (non hormonal) if this is the main symptoms. I doubt very much that they would deny you treatment but its worth discussing all the options with them and make a choice from this information.

Your GP should also help you by referring you to a gynae for further evaluation. You need to determine exactly why your periods are so heavy. The mini pill will help with these symptoms but will not address the underlying cause(s); for instance fibroids can cause heavy bleeding.

Do not put up with painful periods either, seek treatment.

I would also keep a daily pain (note pain on scale from 1-10) and symptom diary if you do not already do this as this would be helpful as well.

I've just been given the mini pill for my mental PMT. it seems to be the first thing they try when suffering period problems so hopefully you'll get it with no problems.

I had horrendous bleeding and wanted to kill my husband for about 20 days of every month. I was given the mini pill & it has been perfect for me, not a single bleed & I only want to commit murder when he actually deserves it now. Doesn't work for all but for me it was fantastic. Combined pill that I took years ago for contraceptive gave me migraines.
