Can I continue to treat a wart on my finger if it bleeds?

I have decided to try and get rid of it after about 8 years so am being very good about treating it but it has started to bleed. From what I have read it is the little blood vessels that have grown into it (grim) but can i continue to treat it?
Also, if docs don't treat them anymore, who do i go to? A podiatrist? Even though it is on my hand?
Thanks ...

Will your GP not take a look at it? A podiatrist will not deal with it on your hand. Assume you've been using the OTC treatments so far? Surely if you've been trying for 8 years and it is now bleeding then the GP can treat/refer/advise?

Sorry, re-read my post and didn't mean to sound abrupt! Just think that you might need a medical opinion at this stage. I'd have suggested duct tape but not if it is bleeding.

Thanks Blah. To be honest I assumed as they wnt treat verruccas anymore, they'd say the same about a wart. My only argument would be that as it is on my hand it can spread easily (which it can) but I have had it for years and it hasn't so that weakens that argument instantly. I am just trying to sort myself out a bit and i want it gone. You're right though, I suppose I had better book an appointment.

Book a dr appt and see what they say. They might freeze it for you, but after so many years you will probably need many sessions.

OTC wise, Salactol is very good but you have to use it for a good few months, even once you think it's gone as the virus is persistent and will take a long time to die. Always cover with a plaster as the virus is highly contagious. If the wart is sensitive or bleeding, wait a few days so you don't get the solution into your bloodstream. Also, acid on an open wound is excruciating and may well have you screaming in agony!!

Oh I remember salactol. You cannot some Vaseline on the healthy skin around the wart to prevent treating that area.
