I was diagnosed with vertigo a few weeks ago, was given tablets and it seems to ease off to being almost gone, have got up this morning and had to walk while holding the wall, feel totally out of it and keep stumbling.

Why would it come back worse and so soon after only having it a few weeks ago?

Can anyone help with this?

TIA

Sorry to hear this
My mom had vertigo a few months ago and it was really bad, anyway when she went to her gp he said it was a viral bug and that a lot of people had the same symptoms and it could take weeks to go , thankfully She is a lot better now.
I would go back to your gp,just to rule something like this out.

Hi pucca, sorry to hear that the vertigo has returned.
I have had episodes of vertigo for the past year. I think it can stay in your system a while.
Sorry that's probably not want you want to hear!

Pucca. I have heard of many people, (My ex MIL inc) who were misdiagnosed. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of what she actually had, damn my memory. But it is so similar to vertigo, ie dizziness, unbalanced etc.
It was brought on by too much salt intake, or intolerance of normal salt intake. Try cutting all salt out of your diet, if you can. It might help, also ask your gp about it, cos I said the same thing to an old man I used to home help and he tried it and improved vast amounts. His gp "forgot" about the salt thing.
Ex MIL sometimes couldn't move, literally, for days.
Hope this is helpful. Wish I could remember the name, sorry.

Minears.
That's what it's called, not sure if the spelling is correct but is pronounced like that!!!
Thank God that would've bugged me all day!!

I woke up with vertigo a few years back now, felt like a nasty hangover even though I'd not touched a drop of booze! My dad suffers with it quite badly and I seem to have followed suit.
I take a tablet as soon I feel it coming on and after a few hours sleep I wake with no more dizziness only a thumping headache though its not known what brings it on although one theory is that if the muscles in your shoulders and/or neck become tight (from stress for example) it can tighten the main artery that feeds the brain and starve it of oxygen and blood which may cause the vertigo to come on. I have massage every month to loosen the muscles and not had an attack since.
Failing that have you had your eyes tested recently? Eye strain may also cause it.

Thanks everyone for replying.

I do have other health probs, and was actually quite surprised when the gp said it was vertigo.

18 mths ago i was having attacks which inc slurred speech, difficulty getting the correct words out, numbness in left side...arm,hand,face,tongue, and left side of vision went black, never really found out the cause of these but recently have been having episodes of pins and needles in both feet, both hands and neck.

I am a walking disaster at just 26 yo

I am on beta blockers (to control the attacks i was having).

Can you afford to try reflexology? A colleague has meniere's and I asked my (reflexologist) sister if it would be worth a try. She said she hadn't treated people diagnosed with Meniere's, but one with vertigo and one with inner ear probs, and the vertigo one found it v helpful. My sis is in Surrey or try www.aor.org.uk and go to 'find a reflexologist' halfway down the list on the left if you are interested.
