Aplastic anemia? That causes serious problems with the immune system. It is usually fatal as children with it die of common infections.

bubblicious · 12/03/2007 18:06

what about Lupus

expatmama · 12/03/2007 18:10

neutropenia or leucopenia? it's a reduction in the white blood cells, which makes patients more susceptable to infection?

Thrombocytopeania?

expatmama · 12/03/2007 18:32

could be pancytopenia which is a reduction in all the blood cells - basicallt it's anaemia (red cells), leucopenia (white cells) and thrombocytopenia (platelets) all at the same time

Severe combined immunodeficiency, maybe? There are forms of that which affect more boys.

Oh no, wouldn't be SCID then, that's much more severe than that. Hope you get an answer soon

Aaaah, you are doing what I do. The first hint of trouble and I am on the internet Googeling like a loony. Usually ending up quite convinced that DS, DH or Dear Me has something really bad.

You are obviously a bit unsettled about this. I honestly think that you should try not to do too much research into vague notions. Honestly. Do some internet shopping instead, much nicer.

PS. All the best with the blood tests, have had a few worries with DS so I DO understand xx

Tamum · 12/03/2007 19:20

When will you hear, Aimsmum? She does sound as though she might be anaemic, doesn't she, but there are lots of very benign reasons for that. I am worrying about you reading all the answers on here that we've all been gaily suggesting

oooh, didn't realise we were second guessing a diagnosis for your little one - googleing should be banned in such situations - i'm guilty of it though too. do hope you aren't waiting for the results for too much longer. xx

You will let us know won't you. This has made me think of when DS was poorly sick. All well now but I was Googling till I couldn't keep my eyes open. Horrible feeling.
