Dioralyte. Any tips for getting this into a 21 month old poorly boy??

Poor old lad has horrible diarrhoea. GP says dioralyte but have had no success today. The chemist only had blackcurrant flavour and the instructions say don't dilute it more than they say. Any advice greatly appreciated.

mix it with juice?

I know it says don't overdilute, but overdiluted is better than none isn't it?

Have you tried putting it into a syringe?

Its the only way I got it into mine

pollypeachum · 11/03/2007 20:58

mine wouldn't touch the flavoured versions but drank the unflavoured happily out of their anywayups. to make sure i got a lot into them, i gave it to them in place of their first drink in the morning, when they were thirsty.

I gave it on a teaspoon - not 100% successful but got some down. Poor you - hope you have a good night x

Agree - syringe. Fire it in, tis the only way. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Poor thing

I couldn't get mine to take it

I just gave her hot Ribena and half a packet of crisps instead - it's probably much the same...

morningpaper · 11/03/2007 21:02

OR give him a couple of those sports sweets - they contain much the same ingredients

If he's eating or drinking a bit then anything salty and sugary is just the same, surely?

Syringe, teaspoon, unflavoured. Thankyou, I should have thought of the syringe he's used to getting dosed up by that method.

Warm ribena and crisps even better. Made me laugh too.

Thankyou everyone.

If he has a temperature too, you could try freezing it into ice lollies.
