Threadworms - DD's guide to how to deal with them...

I discovered last night that DD has got threadworms and found plenty in the mumsnet archives to know that it is something plenty of people have had to deal with. We have now dosed up with some banana flavoured conconction from the chemist and I have cleaned like mad, so hopefully they will be leaving soon!

When DD got up this morning we had a chat about her 'itchybum-itis' which she took very seriously and has helpfully gone a written a leaflet all about what to do, including these fab tips, in gorgeous 6 year old language:

for a iche bum:

doo not poot thigs in math
doo not sgrach your bum
poot pans ud your bjums
wosh has wiv hot woter and sop
wip your bum evre day

There are lots of illustrations too - I will be storing this leaflet very safely for her to look back at when she is older!

Aw bless her - that is SOOOO sweet!!! She will have a career ahead of her as a leaflet-writer for the NHS, I am sure

That made me chuckle

"poot pans ud your bjums"

??? This bit is worrying me. I am sure I have never pooted my pans ud my bjums - do you think I now have worms?

AlienEars · 11/03/2007 13:50

It does look like something Chaucer could be proud of, doesn't it.

Pans under your bjums are essential to avoid worms Franny, so I'd be worried if I were you...

I am assuming "poot pans ud your bjums" is "Put pants under your pyjamas". I have to say that took me a couple of minutes to work out,.

TaylorsMummy · 11/03/2007 16:37

I think you need to work on her spellings!!

I can't read any of them!!

FrannyandZooey · 11/03/2007 16:38

Oh gawd

I don't poot pans ud my bjums at all, ever

oh blimey

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 11/03/2007 20:16

I think you only need poot pas ud your bjums when you actually have worms, not as a preventative measure. Stops them escaping too far in the night.

I could read the leaflet no problem - also have a dd that spells like that!
