my DD had this a few years ago. Whenever we went out her face, hands and ankles (she was in a pushchair so these bits were exposed to the air) would come out in spots which got worse the longer we were out. If we were out for any length of time they would be big purple spots bigger than C.Pox). They never caused her any bother except other cruel adults (including Dr's receptionist) screaming "UGH whats she got?" it would dissapear after being indoors for a short time. If wasnt as bad if we went out with the raincover over her (which she hated, even if it was raining)

Dr. recommended a piriton based medicine but to be honest it did nothing, the outcome was that she was allergic to something in the air!
It lasted about 6 months then just stopped.

See a homeopath - both my DD and my sister suffered with this - my sister suffered for a few years and it was severely debilitating for her.

Both were cured virtually overnight using a homeopathic remedy. My GP told me that save for steroids there is little conventional medicine can do for urticaria, and life on steroids was not what we wanted for my DD. He actually recommended the homeopath - thank goodness he was not your typical GP who are often scathing of alternative remedies.

horrid itchy weals...urticaria seems to burn itself out in little uns but can go on to become chronic in adults which can be hard. Combinations of antihitamines can work well, also avoiding medications like ibuprofen and codeine which tend to destabilise the cells which produce the response. Viral infectyions can also trigger.
