She seems to have cystitis symptoms.(frequent visits to loo with not much coming out;stinging when it does;can't do a "poo";no temperature;no pains-although said her "sides feel like they're sunburned" last night!).Is this normal? She had blood in her urine once last year and that was cleared up with antibiotics-blood was pure red that time. This time,Doc says there's no blood but there's "nitrites and white blood cells and very strong".Worried sick.

just saying hi

did you get the results by phone? it sounds like you need an appontment to get some advic and an explanation

does she drink much?

it is horrible to have children who are ill..hope someone can help

crispyduck · 10/03/2007 10:53

Not sure what the nitrates mean, but an indication of WBC in urine is a sign of infection.

hi zippitoes!
no, i had to take her to the emergency surgery this morning as she was in so much pain. doctor prescribed some antibiotics and did the stick test.he's sent the sample off to the lab aswell. just panicked cos when i asked if it was a normal he just said "very strong"!!!!.It is horrible when kids are poorly isn't it?

well the orngey colour is concentrsated /very strong urine

so perhaps try to give her plenty of drinks and food with water content

hopefully when the results return you will already have had some results from the abs

zippitippitoes · 10/03/2007 10:59

here is a short explanation

crispyduck · 10/03/2007 11:00

I only know this through past urine infections, I have had, don't worry, I was prescribed 4 different types of anti biotics to clear the infection(one anti b turned my urine green)...try not to worry, infections are easy treated...does she drink plenty of water...

I always used to be given Lemon and Barley water when I was a kid which seemed to alleviate the discomfort. Have just sent Hubbie out to get some so fingers crossed!

Actually, she drinks loads of water which is a good thing. I even asked once if she could be diabetic and Doc said there was no sugar in her water. Just hoping it goes as quick as it came. You always seem to fear the worst with kids though, don't you?

yes..it's natural to worry and wish it was us instead of them

usually they perk up quicker than we do though

hope she is feeling better tomorrow and the abs hit the spot

cutekids · 10/03/2007 11:07
