DS has yet another unidentifiable rash!!!!

Last time it was a red-lacey rash with a fever followed by peeling fingers and toes a week later. The closest we got to a diagnosis was "something viral, possibly fifth's disease" (and that was from a GP and a paediatrician, not just the experts of MN)

Now he's got areas of tiny raised bumps on his forehead, the back of his neck & behind his ears, his lower back and his legs. They appear to itch because he's been scratching his neck and forehead, although not bothering with his legs. They're not red -just normal skin colour so very hard to see unless the light is right on them. No fever and not acting sick. Anyone have any ideas?

What is it with my kids and skin things????

My DS gets bumps on his skin like this quite often, we had many useless visits to the doctors who eventually told us it was eczema - so it might be worth trying a good emolient (we use unguentum) and see if that helps gets rid of it.

could be heat rash - do you live somewhere hot?

Not heat rash - we're in Scotland! I don't think it's urticaria but I don't suppose I can say for certain. It seems a bit worse and a bit more itchy today. And yesterday he had an upset tummy for a while, I have no idea if the two are connected. He's got no fever and no other sypmtoms! Still stumped.

Honestly - it sounds just like DS' eczema. I can't do links, but have a look at the 'what eczema looks like' bit on this site:

Washersaurus - in some places it does seem a bit like this description: "slightly dry skin with a rough texture. You may be able to see and feel tiny white bumps as you run your fingers across the skin" but on his legs you can actually see individual spots quite spread out from each other rather than patches.

Love FLR!!!!

If it doesn't go in a couple of days I suppose I'll phone the doc AGAIN!

I will be sure to use this terminology in future too

Sounds like docs is a good idea - hopefully they will shed some light on that FLR

I just wanted to say that DS always seems to suffer most with the spotty patches on his legs (the tops of his legs are the worst) we have to really moisturise several times a day to combat the itching.
