Dd was diagnosed by gp with scarlett fever 3 days ago for which she was prescribed antibiotics. For the past four days i have been sleeping next to her, soothing her and very close to her.
Woke up today with headache, which paracetamol not touching, sore throat and funny taste in mouth and generally unwell

My question is, do i need antibiotics or will it go in due course? I might call out of hours but before i do does any one have any advice please
Thanks

Am glad to hear you went back to OOH and are now improving! What a rotten way to spend the Easter holiday, though.

Don't discount scarlet fever entirely at this stage though; if a non-allergic rash does develop, it means contacting your GP asap.

I'm glad they saw you and are sorting you out. Yes, tonsillitis makes you feel absolutely rotten. :( If it hasn't completely gone at the end of your course of antibiotics then it's sensible to see your gp again and make sure it fully goes.

Still not feeling much better. I am starting to feel really down with it now Sad kids are out with dad so I'm in the bath crying again. Just want to feel back to normal.

Give it some time. I suspect it's an unusual presentation of scarlet fever, but if the antibiotics prescribed were for a strep throat it should be the right choice anyway.

Take regular paracetamol and rest.

I had this-I felt bloody horrendous and very tearful. Antibiotics started to work with 24 hours for me-if you're no better after 48 hours, go back.

Awww it is rough. I felt awful for a week and then another week to recover fully. Take it easy...big vit c doses may help
