Would this worry you...?

I had a few weird symptoms going on (weird pain in my side / back... and the taste and smell of chlorine constantly) and the doctor said I had blood in my urine and possibly had a kidney issue. She arranged for me to have an X Ray, but I was less worried as the taste etc subsided. I put my X Ray off a week as we were on holiday and this morning went to have it.

She took my X Ray, then told me to stay laying there... went and had a look, used the phone and came back and said would I mind if she took a chest, bladder, uterus etc. So I had four more x rays.

I asked why but she just said the doctor would be in touch.

It's worrying isn't it? Confused

Good luck today, penguins!

FrogsLegs31 · 06/04/2017 06:26

Have you been put on antibiotics for kidney infection already? It would seem odd not to have been!

Reduced kidney function caused by an infection means that urea builds up in your body and a symptom of that is ammonia breath.

(Had a fair few kidney infections as a teenager!)

Ankleswingers · 06/04/2017 21:00

How are you op?

Hope all is ok Flowers

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 06/04/2017 22:23

I was given Trimethoprin which I took for a week and it made no difference... the pain was still there. I've heard nothing today.. (and have chased) so hoping this means it can't be that serious?

Can't lie... I'm imaging they saw raging cancer or something, and took the other x rays to check how far it had spread... Confused my best friend is actually a radiographer and she's been talking me down saying how often she's taken extra x rays like this just because of the positioning of the 'thing' they slide under... (cannot remember the name!) and that they would have no authority to call someone about results and do more... but that the call must've been poorly timed coincidence...

Walking with the same friend discussing this in the park today, I literally felt my heart pounding in my chest and could barely do a hill. I'm so breathless. It's not just in my mind... we've walked the same route in that park all our lives and I've never even noticed there was a gentle slope before.... Confused

I don't think they diagnose cancer with x-rays. But you should listen to your friend- she is an expert on x-rays. I had facial x-rays recently and had to have 6 so they could get a clear view of particular bones and at the right angles.

LuluJakey1 · 06/04/2017 22:48

Could it be kidney and bladder stones?

Witchend · 06/04/2017 22:59

Often the people doing the x-rays are not the people who interpret them, so I'd guess it was more "don't want to bring her back if the consultant says he wants to see more".

I took ds in with hip pain for x-ray of his hip and they suggested he had his knee x-rayed for exactly that reason. There was nothing wrong.

FrogsLegs31 · 07/04/2017 05:21

Do you still have a funny chemical taste and lower back pain now?

picklemepopcorn · 07/04/2017 05:40

I hope you hear something today, waiting is so hard!

I get the breathlessness walking up the stairs and hills and I suffer from a couple of types of anaemia. Did the GP do bloods at all when you originally went?

SomethingAboutNothing · 07/04/2017 12:35

Hope you hear soon OP, or if you have already heard, that it is good news.

SuperMoonIsKeepingMeUpToo · 07/04/2017 17:55

Another one hoping you had good news today, OP.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 07/04/2017 18:44

Hello, no, I heard nothing today which makes me feel better. I can't have anything terrible if they're not in a rush with it?

They took bloods on Tuesday when I had the x Rays.

No news is good news. Perhaps they are looking for a missing teaspoon.

ThankmeLater · 07/04/2017 19:22

I would assume this means nothing serious!

Breathlessness and racing heart definitely sound anaemia bells to me too, as well as your constant fatigue of course. DO you have any other symptoms? Tingling in hands or feet? 'Sighing' all the time?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 07/04/2017 22:20

No, no other symptoms... racing heart, fatigue and breathlessness. The pain in the lower left side of my back and the chlorine taste and smell. The pain is much worse if I'm laying flat, and I can alleviate it by putting my hand under my back or a big cushion to kind of prop my side up a bit.

I was really worried, but the wait has reassured me... but there is still definitely something going on. Maybe people are right and it's just anemia? I used to be veggie and now don't eat a great deal of meat, is that a thing?

I really want to feel better for next weekend! It's my brothers wedding, my girls are flower girls, my husband best man, I'm decorating the venue... I cannot be this exhausted, I want it to be perfect for them and being up a ladder when I feel I could keel over probably isn't for the best Wink

Thanks for all your messages. I so appreciate it. Unmumsetty xxxx

Anaemia can make you feel absolutely terrible. I'd guess you have iron deficiency anaemia rather than b12 deficiency anaemia if you don't have other symptoms, hopefully you will get your blood results soon.
Not eating meat does make it more likely. I'd probably start an iron supplement straight away as you've already had bloods taken, wouldn't do any harm.

ShoesHaveSouls · 07/04/2017 22:46

Please calm down - psychosomatic symptoms can feel so, so real - I know from experience. I don;t know what's going on with you, but I do know that the sheer panic of being unwell can cause panic symptoms like you describe - breathlessness and so on. It feels very real. I have been through this several times. And yes, Anaemia can cause these symptoms. I was hospitalised with anaemia when I was pregnant with dc3.

picklemepopcorn · 08/04/2017 20:08

I hope you are enjoying this glorious weather!

SomethingAboutNothing · 19/04/2017 20:32

Did you get the results OP? Hope it was good news.
