Toothache ear ache face ache!

Looking for anyone that has had a similar experience.
For the past week or so I have had toothache, the last 2 days it's has been really bad and am now getting shooting pains in my ear and occasionally behind my eye and feels like my gland is up on that side of my face, it got so bad last night I thought I would pass out. Eventually the pain subsides into throbbing which it did last night and I got a bit of sleep although I did wake up a few times in a lot of pain whilst seeing to my LO who needs feeding every 3 hours. I Went to the emergency dentist this morning but she can't find anything wrong, X-ray showed wisdom tooth pushing a bit against tooth but could that really be causing all this pain? Think I will have to book drs in morning as painkillers don't seem to work.

Anyone had anything similar? Or any advise on helping with the pain?

Sinusitis? It can mimic toothache.

I would say it sounds like sinusitis. Get yourself a Neilmed Sinus Rinse kit (online or from Boots etc) or a neti pot and sluice yourself twice a day - instructions provided with the Neilmed. You can try steaming with a decongestant like Olbas oil as well. I find a hot water bottle over the cheeks is a relief at the worst times. Sinutab or ibuprofen for when the pain is very bad. If it isn't any better after all this for a week see a doctor as you might have a bacterial infection.

Don't know. Sometimes I don't feel congested but I have pain that I know now is sinus pain. But for me bad sinusitis comes on after a cold. So it may not be that! Have you heard of trigeminal neuralgia? It is supposed to be very painful. Or TMJD.

I've got sinusitis at the mo, am on antibiotics and have an ear infection too. My whole tongue feels numb, my cheek and jaw feel horrible and I've got a horrid achey feeling all around my ear. My gland keeps going up and down on the side of my face too, and I've got a horrid taste in my mouth. So yes I'd say sinuses too.

I would make an appointment with your GP - if it is Trigeminal Neuralgia then over-the-counter painkillers don't work for it and you'll need other stuff for pain relief! But I'd try the sinus meds as well first but don't hestitate to contact your GP if it doesn't ease up in the next day or so.

I have this right now for the past 3 weeks. I have been to the dentist 5 times in the past 3 weeks. He can't find anything wrong, gave me antibiotics did root canal. He gave me drugs for trigeminal neuralgia but they didn't work. Went to the doctor got more antibiotics. I'm in agony

It's horrible isn't it littleelffriend I've been prescribed antibiotics and co codamol but it's not helping.

Im totally miserable don't know whether to go back to the dentist or the doctor. What antibiotics are you on?

I'm on doxycycline but have only had 3 so far so can't expect much yet I suppose. Dr did say if it doesn't work to go back and she will refer me to a specialist, have you been given that option?

The doctor said that the dentist gave me the wrong dose of the epilepsy drug for trigeminal neuralgia so if these tablets don't work I think I'm going back on them. Tbh I feel slightly better this afternoon I'm on amoxicillin. How are you feeling?

I had exactly what you describe and had the fairly embarrassing experience of booking an emergency dental appointment to be told it was sinusitis!
Antibiotics began the clearout process but after that a nasal spray and lots of massaging and pain relief was needed to finish it off, which took quite a while.

Glad you are feeling a bit better littleelffriend it's not too bad at the moment usually have a bad bout of pain in the evening and morning. Really hope something starts working soon. glad to hear you are finally past it gplanaddict it is truly one of the worst pains I have experienced.
