CMClub - Juice for over 1's

Hi, hoping for some advice!

Have always bought proper baby juice for mindee and DS. Mindee has always loved her juice and drunk lots, DS used to prefer his formula but just changed over to ordinary milk and just wants that to help him get to sleep, now drinking lots of juice instead.

Problem is now they are both drinking so much, at £1.50 a bottle, it is costing me a fortune!!!!

I know that it can all be written down as expenses, but that doesn't help when can't afford to buy as much as they are drinking !

DS is just 12 months, and mindee is 14 months. At what age can they start drinking ordinary squash (diluted more than for children)?

As parent, I would prefer my child to have a small amount of real juice, diluted with water.

The guideline is to dilute juice with 10 parts of water so you really only need a little bit.

why not ask the parents if they have juice at home? I wouldn't let my children at that age ( and now) have squash, real juice - diluted - would be a good option I think

I have tried my DS with real juice diluted, as I too would prefer it, but he won't touch the stuff!

Had to give him some (extra diluted) squash earlier as ran out of baby juice and he loved it.

baby juice is well marketed I think

I have to agree with hana re. asking the parents. I would ask my cm not to give my daughter squash, however dilute.

I think lots of parents don't live children to have squash. It's just sugar/sweeteners and no good for their teeth. Could they not have water? Or milk? Failing that I would dilute real juice. You can buy basic no frills fruit juice quite cheaply in most supermarkets.

baby juice is awful stuff. My dc have never had it and I would never give it to someone else's child. Has the parent asked you to give it to their child?

Can't you give them water, milk or water down fruit juice? Does it have to be baby juice/squash?
