vaccines

I don't know whether to vaccinate my baby or not. Lots of my friends aren't doing it and I'm not really sure why - and if their reasons are a strong enough arguement. From what I can gather its about vaccines causing allergies and also vaccines that have gone wrong. Also that vaccines can damage the immune system. Can some people enlighten me about why not to do them and why to do them? Thanks

Also, I did some reading for both sides of the arguement and it did my head in and confused me further!!! But maybe someone out there knows some good sites to look at...or just knows some stuff?

My first baby is due in 9 days and I am really unsure about vaccinations...I am not convinced that reducing the small risk of an infectious disease outweighs the risk of inducing a chronic one such as IBS or autism?a tiny portion of children who are not immunised may suffer from the infectious disease just as a tiny number of children immunised may get the more chronic disease. (i did find this 2006 article which was a real eye opener - www.opednews.com/articles/genera_evelyn_p_060813_government_investiga.htm
considering what is at stake for the pharmacetical industry it does pay to be wary of the research they fund)
But it really does seem to be a minefield. I am going to try and not be afraid. Either path has risks. Life IS risky! I guess no matter what happens, I want to know that I have done the reseach and made a truly INFORMED decision for my child, not just swallowed what I was told by the mainstream 'experts'. I would also be really interested in hearing from other mums who have actually done research.
