Breast Lump

PeppaAteMySoul · 26/03/2017 08:51

My son is 4 months old and breastfed. 3 months ago I found a lump under my arm. My GP advised it was just milk ducts swollen from feeding.
Today I found another lump. At the top of the breast on the same side as the first one. It's fixed to the breast, oval sized (about 2cm) and feels like a water balloon. (It's firmish but not hard). I've been thrown into a complete panic again and will see my GP again tomorrow. My mum says it sounds like a cyst- does it?

Ok- the person on the phone said it could take up to 3 hours. Is this true to anyone else's experience? Thank you all for talking me through this- it helps to know what's going to happen.

My appointment was 1045 and I was getting back into the car by 1230. I didn't need a biopsy though so that would have added time.

Another thing - when you arrive and check in at reception, I would advise asking the receptionist if you can be copied in on the report that gets sent to your gp afterwards. I regretted not getting it (although I phoned up at a later date and had one sent). It really helped me after to re-read what had been said and advised. At the time I was so relieved at the "not cancer" part of the conversation that I forgot everything else!

Yes, I will do that thank you. It will help me to know exactly what is going on

My appointment was at 3pm, not seen until 3.30 and out of the clinic by 4.30. In that time I had my history taken, examined twice, a mammogram, an ultrasound followed by an aspiration under ultrasound. All very quick and ran like clockwork.

Crumbs1 · 29/03/2017 21:46

I arrived 9.30. Had a break at 1pm for three hours and was back at four for results of initial biopsy.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to put my mind at rest. It means a lot Flowers

I'm having to be brave in front of DP (he is in a bad way with his own health issues at the moment) and the children so it helps to be able to have a wobble here. Thank you for sharing your stories and the hand holding.

Lots of luck peppa, let us know how the ultrasound goes. Hopefully all just normal, lumpy tissue.

DubiousCredentials · 30/03/2017 14:20

Been checking in for updates. Nearly over now Flowers

picklemepopcorn · 30/03/2017 14:36

Boobs covered in pen. Great look- Hope it's washes off easily, and that that is the biggest of your worries.

PeppaAteMySoul · 30/03/2017 15:10

I have lots of galactoceles in my left breast (milk filled cysts- doesn't that sound lovely) but nothing nasty. Feel really stupid now.

Wahhay! I'm so glad! No need to feel silly, a load of medics had a look and decided they needed checking out, too. Better safe than sorry,

DubiousCredentials · 30/03/2017 15:23

Excellent news Flowers You're not stupid at all. It's always worth getting it checked out.

Good luck getting the pen off your boob though Grin
