What was the cause of super heavy (menstrual) bleeding (sorry if TMI)

I am supposed to be fully in menopause. Have been happily on non- sequential HRT for 6 months.
Haven't had a period in 6 years or any bleeding.

Last night I started bleeding and cramping quite heavy. I was really shocked as it has been so long.

Today the bleeding has just increased to being very very heavy. Soaking a pad in an hour and lots of clots.

I can't remember the illness that can cause this- I remember the MNer here who had very heavy bleeding and went to A&E and it was very serious.

Please can anyone remind me what the illness was so I can see if I have any other symptoms.

Also, anyone ever experienced this type of bleeding 6 months into HRT?

Sounds like you're well prepared. I just left my overnight bag in the car, then I thought I could always send DH out to fetch it if I was admitted.

For what it's worth - I was in and out in literally 10 minutes! Saw the Dr at my appointed time, no messing. It was a revelation not to have to wait 4 hours in A&E like everyone else there.

BoBaraMoMara · 20/03/2017 00:37

Thanks, un - the GP said that with an appointment I should be seen straight away. Hopefully will be back home soon. At least there is no London traffic to deal with.

Ok leaving now as it's an unfamiliar hospital. Thank you so much all of you.

Good luck, op. I hope everything is alright.

BoBaraMoMara · 20/03/2017 01:17

Just waiting to be seen. I thought bleeding on HRT was normal so I am confused.

Google shows that bleeding in menopause is a sign of womb cancer and should always be checked. I had no idea. This is so shit.

Thanks for the laugh, tobee

That was awful. She examined me and then it was like a scene from Carrie. So much blood.

Have to come back to hospital at 9am for a scan. Am sent home to "sleep" with pain pills.

So angry. This better be nothing.

Just leaving now.

Glad you are getting checked out & I hope everything is ok.

Hope you are sleeping now

QuestionableMouse · 20/03/2017 04:59

Hang on to your used pads so they can see how much blood you're losing overnight. Hope everything works out okay!

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 20/03/2017 04:59

I really hope everything's ok I used to suffer from horrendous bleeding, in my cae it was caused by a fibroid which had to be removed. However, I havent yet reached menopause. Hopefully there will be an explanation for your bleeding that isnt sinister. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

UnGoogleable · 20/03/2017 08:23

Had to check in to see how you got on last night OP. Sorry to hear it took so long, hope your scan goes well today. Good that they can get you scanned so soon, so at least you'll have some answers. Xx

Glad you got seen okay OP, hoping you're feeling better this morn x

BoBaraMoMara · 20/03/2017 10:07

Hi thanks for the kind messages. I slept about 3 hours, unfortunately there was blood all over the bed - those of you with really heavy bleeding what do you use if you can't use tampons? Since I haven't had a period in 6 years I only had some incontinence pads that had been accidentally delivered with a grocery order. They seem huge but they aren't working effectively.

Got the DCs to school.

Am now back at the hospital on a day ward. I didn't realise that they were admitting me for the day.

Piffpaffpoff · 20/03/2017 10:11

I use the Always nighttime (blue) pads. Although I was up twice last night changing them as I had soaked through. This is fairly normal for me for 1 day of my period - I get about an 8 hour window when it's just like a tap and it always seems to be during the night!

Hope you get some relief/answers today.

QueenFuri · 20/03/2017 10:25

I just want to say I hope everything is okay and you get answers today

tobee · 20/03/2017 11:23

I used the Always nighttime pads too. My mum used to use nappies. Familial thing. Hope they are getting a move on sorting you out. 🌺💐🌻 (I use the emojis I understand now)
