Is it worth another gp appointment?

In the past 9 months I've had 2 separate lots of blood tests, all normal apparently.

Initial symptoms were extreme tiredness, constant joint pain and sluggish memory. Nothing wrong found in blood tests so I didn't follow up and felt marginally better after a couple of months.

Had emergency appointment few months ago as had extreme palpitations constantly for almost a week. Gave propranolol which didn't really help, BP and bloods normal. Palpitations stopped and not had since.

In this period my moods have become hugely erratic. The week or two leading up to my period my temper is almost uncontrollable. I'm in a constant rage which is obviously having an impact on my family although thankfully not so much at work. I am struggling to hide the anger there thou. As soon as my period comes I'm my usual self. However my periods are now very irregular. Gone from clockwork 28 day cycle to 32, 35. As we are TTC this is not ideal.

I'm assuming I have some hormone imbalance, hopefully not menopause related are I'm only mid 30s. Would I be wasting GPS time going again? I just worry for my MH as when the pms has its grips on me I genuinely feel like I'm losing my mind.

Do you have any mid-cycle pain? I have endometriosis and this sounds similar to what I experienced at the start. I'd definitely book another GP appointment. You're struggling physically and emotionally and you shouldn't have to just deal with it in silence.

Generally no pain mid cycle. I think I will go to the gp. I hate wasting their time but I genuinely fear for my mental health. I'm currently taking a ton of vitamins and supplements to try to help but it's early days so don't know if they will have an effect. It's so frustrating especially when I want to get pregnant.

Given your symptoms and TTC I'd ask for your thyroid function to be checked.

Thewinedidit · 19/03/2017 19:19

They have checked it and apprently it was fine.

I had similar symptoms with low ferritin levels (iron was normal though). I got back to myself by taking iron for a while. Took a few months though for my ferritin to recover.

My thyroid was diagnosed as fine when actually it was high in range and struggling. You should ask to see your results and check that B12 and iron (ferritin) are half wsy in range and TSH is under 2. If TSH Is higher, it warrants further investigation. But if you still have issues, your GP should investigate. After all, you're not making it up!

That's interesting that you were told your thyroid was fine when it wasn't. I had initially expected my issue to be a thyroid imbalance as pretty much every symptom of it I seemed to be experiencing. I will definitely speak to gp about that. I will also try some iron tablets. It's about the only supplement I'm not on at the moment!

That's very common actually.
