And me.

lurkingnonparent · 01/03/2017 23:43

Following with interest. Thyroiditis diagnosed by bloods here but I will be asking at next appt if it's all that or perimenopause too.

helzapoppin2 · 02/03/2017 13:43

Yup!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/03/2017 21:31

Me too!

ELR · 02/03/2017 22:37

Me too diagnosed 3 years ago

ELR · 02/03/2017 22:37

What are everyone's symptoms?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 03/03/2017 22:24

Well I presented with numbness on my face.

After a normal examination by a dentist, optician and neurologist I had an MRI which was also normal.

Blood tests finally showed a TSH of 89 and then hashimotos was diagnosed with antibody testing.

I was tired, had dry skin, sluggish bowels and a kind of brain fog but I had a 3 year old and nearly 1 year old who I was still bf so put it all down to that and the time of year (winter).

Corabell · 03/03/2017 22:27

Yes.

AspartameVictim84 · 04/03/2017 06:57

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thryoiditis. However the cause of my illness is much more worrying. I discovered that I had years of unmetabolized aspartame built up in my body. I found out why it never broke down (which is due to a particular enzyme inactiivity) and much more.

I sent my findings to EFSA and the FSA and both CEO's have resigned but they kept that bit quiet as to why.

You may also have noticed Tesco have swapped aspartame for sucralose in the past fortnight?

Please see the article I wrote on my experience which wil give you a better understanding into why these individuals have resigned.

My main symptom that started the investigation were attacks of highly excellerated heartbeat seemingly out of nowhere.

Turned out my thyroid had begun to kill itself. I take a small dose of L-Throxin every day and had to take high doses of selene and vitamine D for a time.

In the end my muscle ache, joint pain, tiredness, low mood, the above mentioned brain fog and, of course, the palpitations stopped. I'm tested for my levels about every six month.

Corabell · 04/03/2017 12:06

My symptoms were: fatigue and complete exhaustion, massive weight gain, water rention, depression, brain fog, lack of cognitive function, hair loss, dry skin, thinning eyebrows, joint and muscle pain and lack of strength. I looked grey and aged by about 10 years in the space of a few months. It was horrific. Even after being on levothyroxine for over a year I was still very ill, i didn't make any kind of recovery until I took t3 as well.

I should have been treated in 2009 as I was clearly hypothyroid then, but was dismissed by the gp despite my antibodies being sky high and my tsh being out of range. It was 2014 before I was treated and my tsh was over 100.

booox · 04/03/2017 16:46

I've been hypothyroid since I was 21 so nearly 20 years. I needed thyroxine after going on the pill. Was ok when came off it, then went under again and continued to go under thereafter, pill or no pill. (Not taken since)

I wasn't given a hashi diagnosis as such but I believe I had some antibodies (anti- thyroglobulin).

There's another sort common in Europe called Ords disease.

It was hard having it at that age at uni, pre google (just) and really shit care. Not that it's much better now!

I've learnt how to keep and eye on my doses my self.

booox · 04/03/2017 16:50

I actually start wasting away for some reason. I think I puff up at first but then get terribly weak and loose weight. Which is why it wasn't diagnosed at first I think. At that age I had no aches at all, just epic tiredness, weakness and brain fog, and chronic constipation.

When I've been hypo since having my son, I have had aches and pains too.

I get anxious too as I know I'm not functioning well - it affects executive function hugely. I've had word finding issues when I'm tsh 13 too. I have to be kept just under 1 to feel well, and also do exercise to keep strong.

booox · 04/03/2017 16:53

Can I just draw people's attention to the slightly changed nice guidelines if you're pregnant or thinking if conceiving by the way. I didn't know they'd changed hopefully for the better.
