Is there a hysterectomy support thread?

I had a laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy, retained ovaries but everything else removed.

Day 6 for me, and I have some questions and would like some support as freacking out about the thought of vault prolapse.

I am managing pain wise now. Some slight pulling on one side, but manageable. Belly button keeps bleeding, but not enough to run out, so just cleaning it twice a day.

I feel quite heavy down there, is that normal?

I thought I had read everything there was about hysterectomies before I had the op, but the surgeon mentioned vaginal vault prolapse just before the surgery and explained it briefly. I then googled, and the first page brought up an awful image and I can't get it out my mind. I'm terrified that it'll happen to me.

Can anyone offer any help and support.

Thanks lazy

Bath another 2 weeks (so + 4 weeks) and bath the same (; also he doesn't want me to drive for at least another 2 weeks either which is hard where I live. All my other concerns about being tired and grumpy he said I've had normal reaction to major surgery and he prescribes 4 days in a spa but the chance would be a fine thing!

Someone techy will need to start a new thread and link to this one soon. 977...

Sorry for gobbly gook! He said no bath or swimming until 4 weeks post operation. He thinks my brain fog and moodiness is just because I'm doing too much after what was 4 procedures 2 weeks ago.

Well I'm finally home, relieved it's all done. Surgery took four and a half hours altogether due to the discovery of lots of adhesions, so I'm hoping they don't come back with this surgery.
When did everyone remove their dressings?
I also have to inject myself with blood thinners, it's finding a spot on my tummy that isn't sore that's a problem! I'llbe glad when this bit is over.

Thanks lazy for askjbg about swimming but its annoying lazy as my recovery guide from the hospital talks about swimming 2 weeks post op and I'd love to. My abdominal scare does look very closed but I really don't want any set backs.

Glad you're out fennel. Those blood thinning jags are very nippy. I had them in tops of legs dutjnv my hospital week. Still have a small circular bruising for each one. Better than a cloth tho.

I've tried to make us a new thread

Hope the link works and see you all there

Thanks for the new thread. My tummy is yellow and blue and all sorts from the anti coagulation jabs but I didn't find them bad. I find they hurt more in the thigh.

Yes confusing re the swimming. It may be my vaginally wall anterior and posterior repairs rather than the hysterectomy which he didn't want in the bath or even the bladder work?

Fennel, my surgery was just under 3 hours but I had 4 procedures and my packaging was removed about 36 hours later. It seemed to go on for ever and was pretty revolting but not painful. I was worried about it as my DH said package removal after nasal polyps was agony but it was a doddle. Glad to hear you're okay and sorry for the long op. I'm still pretty knackered 2 weeks on though making a good recovery in every other way. Lots of rest for you!

Laughing at my own typo and trying to imagine a 'vaginally wall' 😅

Still sore though and I'm sure it's the stitches around the repairs rather than the vaginal hysterectomy which are sore. Just want to get my energy back now and lose the low key period type pain. But surgeon said all the stitches may take months to heal. Oh well... better than wetting and nearly wetting myself the whole time.

Glad you're doing well ladies, impressed with Zumba! Feels a long way off but I'm not 3 weeks yet.
