Piles treatment

Can anyone give me some information on any treatment you've had on the NHS? Or private actually? What stage were you at? What were your options? Did you have successful treatment?

I have my first meeting with a colorectal surgeon in 5 weeks and I just want as much information (and positive outcomes!) as I can get.

Thank you in advance, I'm obviously petrified and feel so alone to be honest.

Hi Funnyface. I've just read through your thread as am suffering similarly (and have done for a few years now since births of ds2 and ds3) and wondered how you are getting on now. Has it been worth it? I'm under an NHS consultant but it's all taking ages (have had them banded but still suffering with v painful piles) so considering going private to get it sorted sooner. Like you it is really affecting my quality of life with my v young children. I also hadn't heard of thd so thanks for that info - sounds much less invasive than the traditional op.

Hi saggy, just a quick reply at the moment because I'm pressed for time. Yes, totally worth it. NHS have been no help to me. In my opinion they don't consider how very painful this part of the body can be and because it's not classed as serious they try all the cost saving techniques first. Putting people through bloody agony.

The Thd seems to have worked great for me, no piles, no pain. I have had trouble with the anal skin tag/external pile that was cut off. Left a very sore open wound but that's resolving nicely now and I'm very happy. Will be 7 weeks for me in a few days.

Hahaha...saggy! Sort of true! 😉 Thanks so much for your reply. And really glad to hear it's worked for you. It must be amazing to be pile (and pain) free! I'm waiting to see if I might be covered on my work private Heath insurance otherwise I'll just have to await my next NHS appt. It's just so miserable living in pain looking after small children whenever I have a flare up (like now). And for me it seems to happen from prolonged standing/walking/pushing the pushchair which aren't exactly things I can avoid doing! Really down about it this week. Just want to be better and to be able to live a normal life. Anyway, your post has given me hope that one day I might be cured!

I had the surgery 5 days ago. I’m also horrified at the thought of that open wound when I use the bathroom. Please tell me how long did it take for the wound to close?

Ok, this is my last update. I'm scheduled for thd surgery and anal skin tag removal on the 27th. I will only post again if anyone would like to know something about either of these procedures.

Hi @Funnyface1 Please could I have an update? How was the skin tag removal surgery and recovery for you?
