dd is 4 & whenever she geta a cold ends up with a cough. she has now been coughing mostly at night for a few weeks, it's just congestion, but just now made her really sick.
she is fine in every way during the day, v occasional cough but no cold or anything, so I wasn't very inclined to go to Dr's - keep thinking she'll get better.
She had similar with a cold in April & we saw Dr but she was feeling grotty & screamed her head off the whole time, he gave some antibiotics & she improved, but it doesn't seem to ever go away.

So, should I go to Dr again or wait & see, have dusted room tho prob not v well & tried to raise her but she sleeps on front a lot so difficult.
I feel awful for her & just don't know what to do.

DS was the same and he was diagnosed asthmatic (not surprising since I am too). A few times with the inhaler and it's all under control. Can you get a peak flow meter from the Dr so you could take a reading a night because as you said, during the day they are mostly fine so a visit to the Dr is not much use.

Sorry to hear that your dd is not well. My dd1 gets very congested too, so I give her a decongestant cough medicine which does help. I think however if it's been going on for that long I would go back to the Doctor, just to make sure it's ok. I sometimes have an ongoing cough after a cold (sounds like a smokers cough although I've never smoked) and a previous doctors told me I had "irritable airways" and gave me an asthma inhaler to use. Gets rid of it in 2 days.

btw I am not asthmatic.. my peak flow is fine. dr checked that so your dd my not be either.

the only thing i can realy sugest is keep the room as well vetilated as possible keep a eye on her over the weekend if theres no improvement take her back to the doctors on monday or if it seems to be getting any worse get a emergency doc to her
and make sure theres nothing fragrant in the room as this will trigger it my mother is asmatic and its the perfume affect her chest but im not asmatic and i get the same problem

Just to say thanks for replies. We went to Drs today, there were no symptoms for her to see & she asked what I thought, so I told her about replies on here & we now have 2 inhalers & a big plastic thingy & hay fever medicine. Going back to be told what to do with them tomorrow.
Seems a bit drastic but am glad to have something to try, have to go back in 10 days.
Of course, since making the appt. she hasn't coughed as much...
