Bloody good news re DH's brain tumour

onlyjoking9329 · 28/02/2007 12:27

just been to doctor with DH and Doctor brought up Dh's hospital letter which states that they believe he has a low grade Glioma type tumour, which is the best news asthese are non cancerous and slow growing.
it does rather beg the question why they did not tell us this at the hospital. they just sent him home saying it was a brain tumour but to risky to do a biopsy, come back for a rescan in three months time.
is it too early for wine?

OJ what a relief! Thank goodness for that. Have a great celebration with your dh tonight

And yes, I definitely think you should follow this up with the hospital - it's a pretty big mistake on their part IMO.

Oh that is great news OJ.

The health industry can be careless about people can't it?

I may even be tempted to join you for a glass of wine straight after the school run.

My brother had exactly the same type of tumour and had it removed just over 18 months ago, he's had radiotherapy since to zap the last of it but has made an amazing recovery. He was only in hospital for 3 days!
The doctor said it could of been in his head for up to 10 years
The first Doctor my Bro say described it as "an all mighty bother", where do these people learn their communication skills
This is a very common type of Tumour so they know what to do, if I was you I'd open the bottle of wine now.

too late ivor the bottle has already been opened and second glass is being drunk!
the neuro said DH has had the tumour and the MS for a long time, dunno how long thou from reading up it says you can have it symptom free for ten years, then if you have it removed then it may well grow again but you should be symptom free again for up to three years.

I am back, I lost some weight not much but I have space for a virtual glass of wine.

I'm glad your enjoying the wine.
My brother is going to have to have periodic scans to monitor the growth and there's a possibility of additional radiotherapy in the future. I think the severity is dependant on the location of the tumour, I remember they said my bro might have balance issues after the op, but he was his usual clumsy self! I was amazed how quickly he recovered, they did'nt even shave his hair, his receeding hair line might of helped that thou .
I wish you both all the best, get another bottle of wine
