Once again - MMR and allergy to eggs

I've posted this on another thread and thought to post it here too (so sorry for those to read it twice

My DS had blood tests to diagnose his allergies and we found out he's very allergic to eggs (14.3). He's 18 months and I've been postponing the MMR. Now that I have the results, I'm even more afraid for him to have it. Some of you who encountered the same problem, what did you do? any advice will be greatly apprecialted.
Thanks

Thanks ohsmellyjelly. How dome you waited till now? was it recommended by the doctors? cause here, in Amsterdam, they're really pushing for DS to vaccinated telling me the vaccination doesn't have eggeprotein in it... I also want to wait longer.

We chose not to. My dd reacts very badly to any egg and didn't want to take the risk.

To me it being risky enough to have to have it done in hospital was too risky.

we had dd done (paed insisted she'd be fine and she had it done in the GP surgery) - this was years ago

I remember a thread recently where someone said they were making it in a different way and it had nothing to do with egg anymore. Might be worth checking that out debliz.

They will allow you to have it in hospital.
DD also had an egg allergy we were going to have her done but she got measles first so we postponed it until we can get single vacc's for the mumps and rubella.
FWIW my ds went into anaphylactic shock after his mmr and he had no egg allergy.

From the BMi here

Summary points

----------------
The majority of life threatening (cardiorespiratory) allergic reactions to MMR vaccine have been reported in children who are not allergic to eggs; these are more likely to be explained by the gelatin or neomycin contained in the vaccine than the ovalbumin

----------------
MMR vaccine is as safe as any other vaccine, and an allergy to eggs should not delay measles vaccination

----------------
The only children who need to be vaccinated in hospital are those with an allergy to eggs in whom previous exposure led to cardiorespiratory reactions and those with coexisting active, chronic asthma

----------------
Children with milder forms of allergy to eggs can be safely vaccinated without additional precautions

----------------
Any child experiencing an acute allergic reaction to MMR vaccine must have the reaction clearly defined and be evaluated for other allergies

DD2 had an egg allergy which I discovered when she was about 8 months old. Our hospital at the time was very unsupportive of us because we were undecided whether to go ahead with MMR. In the meantime we moved to a different area and found a GP who was supportive and we did decide to have the MMR done in hospital. DD was about 18 months by this time. She had no reaction at all. Injection was given in the morning and she was just observed for a few hours and then we were able to go home.

Thanks Piffle for the information. His next appointment is on the 15th and we're travelling on the 28th. Put aside the allergy thing, do you think it's ok to travel nearly 2 weeks after the vaccination?
Thanks

DS is allergic to egg.
We delayed his MMR a little whilst our GP double-checked what the HV said - that there is no longer any egg product used in the immunisation. This was confirmed, and he had it done just at the surgery without any problems at all (didn't cry! ).
