Eye Floaters. How long do they last??

So several days ago I was walking down the street and I got a spontaneous eruption of a massive black cobweb across my vision. I have a V high prescription & was always warned to get it checked out straightaway.

So I got it checked out pronto and luckily no tears or anything, my eyes looked perfectly healthy.

But the blasted thing is still obscuring my vision!

It's obviously not as crisp and dark as my eye is trying to ignore it but it's still very much visible so now I have a blurry web across everything.

The optician casually said they NEVER disappear!

Seriously, is this thing going to be visible forever? I'm only 40!

It's very common as you get older augustus, both of mine went within 6 weeks of each other, and I had them checked out - I'm 70. Annoying, but you do get used to them and the brain eventually does ignore them!

I was diagnosed with PVD in early Feb 17 , after 3months it was not improved and I was referred to an ophthalmologist . I don't have floaters I have a curtain / windscreen wiper effect but fortunately only in one eye . The Dr I saw at the hospital in May said it was not PVD but just a single lump of jelly that had broken loose and was floating about in the other jelly so I'm waiting for the whole jelly to detach in the hope that then my brain can get on with fading it out part . It's very annoying .

I have vitreous detachment floaters in both eyes which look a bit like a small cloud that I can see when I move my eyes from side to side. I was told that they would eventually detach and float to the bottom of my eye ball but I have had one in my left eye for nearly two years and it is still there. My brain has largely learned to ignore them but I notice them more when I am tired and also when I go from light to dark as the floater seems to retain some of the light for a while.
