Treating baby eczema...

I'm taking DS (12wks) to the drs this afternoon as he has dry red blotches all up his legs and behind his ears are cracked so it is looking like he has eczema.

I'm really upset about it as I really suffered with it badly until well into my teens and still have it in places and was hoping he wouldn't have to go through having it.

I left him with no nappy on on his mat and went out of the room and when I came back, he had scratched all his legs so it must be itching him.

Anyway, the doc will probably give me some medication but what I wanted to ask was, has anyone out there successfully treated baby eczema using natural, organic products? Also, what would you suggest I do with regard to bathing him?

I'm breastfeeding exclusively and plan to do until he is 6+ months. As eczema is allergy-related could it be something that I am eating perhaps? If so, I may ask to be referred to an allergist...

Aveeno bath oil and cream really help my DS (although i do use hydrocortisone if necessary too), they are not organic but oatmeal based so maybe of interest to you. They are avail on prescription

Hi

I have used Melaleuca Renew cream on my ds1 he has had it since 2 months old it isnt really bad but makes him itch it was recommended to us by a homeopath they also do a bath oil. It is quite expensive and the doctor will give you free stuff but they only gave me olitaum and I found it didnt do anything for ds1. I have tried just about every cream on sale in health shops etc.... and this is the only one that actually leaves him with soft skin - they have a website www.melaleuca.com they are a us company - Let me know if you are interested in it as you cant just order it over the website x

DS has mild excema - we simply bathed him a minimally as possible & only in plain water - every 1-2 weeks as a baby & only when he asks now (he is 2.5yrs) which is anything from once a fortnight to 3/4 times a week...did try a few organic/natural creams but they didnt do anything at all...he is still only washed in plain water, no shampoo, soap etc & his skin is really good...he has the occasional flair up if he has too many baths or comes in with me (& so gets some soap on him) but it doesnt bother him at all

Try finding a good homeopath if you can.

This worked on my dd with her excema when she was a baby.

Its just recurred badly with her combined with asthma (9years now) and have taken her back, will let you know if it works this time.
