Bit of a long story I'm afraid, but here goes: A very dear friend of mine has been ttc for just over 2 years. In that time she's had two missed m/c and not really any good news. She barely has periods so it's possible that the m/c are happening as there's very little lining to the womb to sustain a foetus. She's been put on tablets that are normally given in cases of polycystic ovaries, in the hope of stimulating her cycle. Last month there was a period for a day which is a step forward and in an attempt to help herself she's taking a complete month off from her rather pressured job. During this month she's thinking of using the time to really take care of herself and possibly have a course of accupuncture. Anyone have advice/experience in this as to be honest, she's finding all she's going through really pretty tough and it would be lovely to hear some positive recommendations and suggestions that I could relay to her.

Hi just wanted to say I know several people who ahve conceived with the help of acupuncture. Advise your friend that it will help to balance her emotionally as well as physically and mentally.

I trained in shiatsu, which is like acupressure, the origins of which are in Traditional Chinese Medicine. When I was in my final year one of my case studies was a lady who had conceived 4 times but sadly her babies kept dying inside. I recommended TCM acupuncture alongside what I was doing (after all I was still training). She had shiatsu every week and acupuncture regularly too. She was given dodder (plantar) seeds, which noursih the womb to ingest as well. Anyway, after a few weeks she conceived again. I treated her every week and she went on to have a healthy baby boy, then a couple of years later another, with no problems. I have to say from a TCM diagnosis point of view, she was a completely different person at the end of her treatments, much more confident and outgoing.

Good luck to your friend.

Darn it - foiled again !!!

No bloomin' luck on my request for help in finding a local acupuncturist. I was out last night so I didn't get to bump it for those who come online in the evening so perhaps will give that a whirl tonight.

Something positive though - thanks to all of you who've responded, my friend is planning on not even waiting for her sabbatical in April to start seeing someone as she's so buoyed up by all your stories and advice. Now we just have to find one....

xxx
