For anxiety...tryptophan for the 'mental' side and beta blockers for the physical symptoms ( like vomiting a lot).

She has mild asthma...should she be on beta blockers??

I don't actually know the answer to hte asthma thing - but I think you are right to raise the question.

The common asthma drugs like ventolin, salbutamol and seretide and beta-agonists i.e. they activate the beta receptors. The 2 drugs could cancel one another out. I wouldn't worry too much about any asthma drugs affecting her beta-blockers cos the asthma drugs shouldn't get into the blood stream (as they are inhaled). What would be potentially more concerning is that the beta-blockers will stop her asthma medicine working or even make her asthma worse.

I should add I am only speculating based on what I know about how these medicines work.

THere is an issue with asthma drugs and betablockers - my dad has been on beta blockers for 30 years, and has recently developed asthma, which has played havoc with his medicines - think he got switched onto something totally different, but it did take a while to settle down!

I would get her to check it out with both the person that prescribed it AND the person that looks after her asthma

Thanks!
I will suggest she checks it out.
