Forgotten prescription meds away from home

I'm guessing nothing can be done? Bollocks.

I don't have my mometasome spray, movicol and salbutamol, managed to forget a bag. They're all prescription only, aren't they. Is there any way to get them. Bloody typical that it's also over new year and doctors will be shut etc.

I'm near Gatwick, live in South Wales. The drive back isn't really possible.

Oo, I just found DSs beconase in the dashboard. And I think there may be a salbutamol in my other bag? I remember putting one there, but can't remember if I took it back out

ECS is a Scottish/NI term, I think? There may be an issue with your GP record being in Wales whilst you're now in England, but I would call your surgery and start the process, this is definitely not the first time they will have encountered the problem.

Had a look in my bag that was last packed for hospital and it not only had a salbutamol, but a load of movicol! :)

So I'll tide my nose over with the beconase and some sudafed for now. Panic over. Thank you everyone for the help Flowers

I think standard movicol can be purchased, the paediatric version is prescription only (POM). I bought some for DS when I stupidly ran out but it was from the pharmacist who usually dispenses his medications- with strict instructions on how to convert the adult version to the child half strength. I have got my puffers issued (I had to pay) by a pharmacist in an emergency ( it was pretty obvious I needed them!!). I have also frog marched a relative who had forgotten his heart meds into a pharmacy and got a weeks emergency supply. It helps if you have your repeat or other proof with you. We even got a specialist medication ( I accidently took an empty bottle with us not the full one!!) - but our GP surgery sent a ?fax through to confirm it was essential for ds.
Good luck.

For future reference:

Any pharmacy CAN give you prescription medication so long as your gp is open. They can ring and arrange an emergency prescription to be faxed over. I've done it for anti D's

Probably too late but might work in the future, if you have a co-operative surgery. Find out if the pharmacy will accept a faxed prescription, probably not for controlled drugs, ring your surgery and explain the situation and ask if they could arrange for the script to be faxed to the pharmacy. You would need the address so it can be posted to them to reconcile their records. Offer to pay the postage. They can then dispense the items.

I've done this for a patient at 8 o'clock in the morning, who was waiting for a flight from Gatwick and he realised he had forgotten his insulin. IIRC it was Boots who rang.

I've forgotten to pack my prescription meds before. I learned the hard way! Now I keep 3 days emergency supply in my make up bag which lives in my handbag. This isn't an 'I told you so' post, just a suggestion to help avoid a reoccurrence of the hassle of forgetting essential meds. Smile

Molly, i usually do have a weeks emergency supply, but I had to use them recently when my doctors messed up my repeat. Will sort it out :)

I've been given an inhaler by a pharmacist before when my gp surgery was closed. I did take my empty one with me though.
