Losing blood

I'm 5 weeks postpartum and my bleeding had all but stopped. So finally sleeping in the buff again, did a naked run downstairs to go and grab the baby a bottle and was stood waiting when I felt like I was suddenly wetting myself. Cursed myself for not doing my pelvic floors enough however when I looked down there was blood running down the insides of my legs. Bright red and lots of it. Grabbed a massive wad of kitchen towel but had soaked through it in seconds. All over the kitchen floor (and cat who was rubbing against my legs like a total creep) got upstairs and sat on the loo and had quite a trickle like the end of a wee (but blood obviously) for a further 30 seconds-1min, also passing some considerable clots. Then stopped as suddenly as it had started. I've actually felt woozy today from the sheer amount of blood loss this morning.
Anyone thoughts?!

Have you had a GA before? What is your anaesthetic risk like? I would ask for a D&C under GA if it were me, I had a uterine polyp removed, the consultant said they would do it under a local, I burst into tears and they very thought and he immediately said 'don't worry you can have a GA' ... I was under for all of about 7minutes, in at 8am home by lunch.

or conscious sedation where you are effectively out of it? I agree Fab i can see the advantages of being under for it.

To be honest I couldn't believe they didn't offer general. That would be my preference, I'm pretty good with pain really but I know that, that procedure is horrible. I'm sure it won't be as bad this time but the injections into your cervix are just horrid. I don't know about asking for an epidural, that'd be fine. For now they have no availablity for non emergencies until after Christmas so I'm going back for a repeat scan in the first week of Jan. Fingers crossed I'll be clear by then. If not I think I'm going to ask for GA. only had it a couple of times but very low risk and was fine each time. Thanks everyone and thank you Christmas for your kind replies

take care - and I hope that it passes uneventfully in the meantime.
