On Wednesday my 4 year old ds went to have an mmr booster and pre-school jabs and polio. He was fine but yesterday morning he woke up complaining that his arm was hot. Last night he couldn't stop scratching it. I'm not sure which one they put in his right arm but that is the one we are having problems with spefically.
This morning it is raised, red, hard, hot to the touch and about 7 cm in diameter.
It looks quite alarming but my gp told me last night that if he is fine in himself then theres nothing to worry about.
But I can't stop worrying tbh. Should I take him to the gps?

Sounds like a tetanus reaction. If it starts to go yukky take him back (sometimes they can abcess).

Ds1 hasn't had his pre-school imms yet but I remember that a friend of mine was told that if the lump is bigger than a 10p piece then the child needs to see a doctor. I would give them another call, or maybe try the HV/ NHS Direct?

Thank you for replying so quickly.
I will phone my gp again.

My dd had hers yesterday and she has a hard lump in the leg they gave her the DTP in as well but its not hot or sore. Sounds like it could be that. If its bothering him, then its worth bothering the doc!

Good luck, Tigerlillies. Let us know how you get on.

She has suggested Piriton. Perhaps I am over reating.
I'll see how we get on with that.
Thanks everyone.
