Painful bumps on pubic mound

God that felt really weird to type...

I have one rather large, angry red bump in my pubic area. I have several other smaller ones which disappear more quickly and don't cause much pain. I've tried stabbing this bump with a pin to relieve the pressure but I only get pricks of blood coming out rather than any pus. Now and then I notice there's been a discharge on my knickers when the pain is at it's worst so it does weep from time to time.

I used to ignore such things and let them work themselves out but I've had enough now so I'm asking if there's anything anyone here knows of that I can try before I resort to making an appointment as I obviously don't really want anyone to have to deal with that.

TIA!

Could it be an infected hair follicle?

gamerchick · 12/12/2016 10:27

Or a boil? I get them in that area sometimes. The son gets meaty Staphylococcus on his legs which needs antibiotics and then I get a boil. Half a tub of Epsom salts in the washing machine drum for a few washes sterilises the machine.

It could be either. I'm wondering about the hair one because I'm pretty sure I've had an ingrown hair in the same place in the past. One that wasn't removed. Thing is that it comes and goes in terms of swelling and pain. Sometimes it's just a little bump with no feeling whatsoever. I noticed that it became particularly painful just before starting my period, but then that's when the whole body becomes more sensitive anyway.

I've tried having a dig about but I'm a rather large person and can't see past my protrusions.

I don't have anything in the house apart from nappy rash cream. Wondering if that might help for now?

Magnesium sulphate paste from the chemist. Hot bath before bed and slather it on afterwards for a couple of days. Will bring it to a head.

It's an unresolved ingrown hair. I've had one for years but luckily my gp is also a surgeon and is going to whip the bugger out!

Magnesium sulphate... I'll ask for that, thank you!

I'd rather cut my own minge than get a doctor to see to it >
