Thyroid? Advice

Hi all. During my last pregnancy I was very low on iron and b12, I also suffered from slow heart rate and palpitations. My GP gave me iron supplements and told me to come straight back after the baby to have tests. She gave me a blood test for my thyroid and told me it was normal and to see how I went on. It's now 18 months since and my symptoms are carpel tunnel, aching muscles, palpitations, trembling occasionally, tiredness, weak nails....
After speaking to a friend I was convinced my thyroid must be the problem but when I visited my dr she said the results were fine months ago and said there was no point testing it again... Any ideas???

Ask for your actual test results and then do some research. The NHS range for 'normal' thyroid levels is wider than many other countries and wider than what many specialists think is optimal.

I had to have my thyroid removed in an emergency op three years ago.
Mine was over active so now I have to take meds every day.
The range they test for when they do and should do a full test has more than one thyroid hormone in it.
Drs often only do the basic one hormone test first and as long as your indicator is within the large scale they won't do anything.
Everyone's body works differently at different levels. For instance I need to test at the higher end of the level or my body doesn't function very well.
From what I believe the younger you are the more higher up the scale your body works best at as your more active than someone in their 60s.
Took me three drs to get my meds right for me and not what a guideline says so my best advice would be get a second test done again with a different gp.
If they are not helpful insist on a referral to an endocrinologist.

Firstly you need the actual results to see what they actually tested.
Then you need to see a different Dr, to say something was OK months ago means she won't test again is just wrong, conditions change constantly and quickly. If they refuse put a complaint in to the practice manager

Found out results, but it could have begun to fluctuate in the 18 mo since that last test (is that right?). Is there family history?
