Been ill for a few weeks now. Having another flare up of God knows what......it has happened approx 6 times in the last 18 months. Each episode worse than the last. I get agonizing stomach pain in my lower left abdomen. This time has been followed by a complete loss of appetite and vomiting. I also have horrible lower back pain and headaches. Gp did stool tests which showed some inflammation but he doesn't think they are reliable so wants them repeated in 6 weeks time. I asked if I should cut out certain foods.....he said he doesnt think exusion diets help. He told me to force myself to eat.......I have and just vommed everywhere. I have no desire to eat and it feels horrible when it's in my stomach. I get incredible gas and end up bringing everything back up again. I don't know where to turn now. My boss just rang to see how I am and couldn't believe I have just been left to get on with things.

Go back to GP. "Force yourself to eat" is clearly not working.

INeedNewShoes · 07/12/2016 11:05

Go back and see a different GP. You can't wait six weeks if you're not keeping food down.

Badders123 · 07/12/2016 11:10

Your dr is being negligent
Go and see a different one and ask for an urgent gastro referral

Badders123 · 07/12/2016 11:11

In fact if you can find some cash I would find a private dr and go there - you will get tests done within the week 😞😡

tigersbuddy · 07/12/2016 11:14

I ended up in the out of hours a few weeks back and they thought it could be diverticulitis but he said no because of my age. Just feel like I'm stuck in limbo.

I have private medical insurance through work so I could probably use that.....just need to find the money for the excess.

OP posts:
Badders123 · 07/12/2016 11:15

Of course it could be.
Your dr sounds horrendous and very ill informed.
See someone else ASAP.

coffeecakemum · 07/12/2016 11:21

Have you been checked for stones in gall bladder?

tigersbuddy · 07/12/2016 11:28

No I saw a different gp with the last flare up and she sent me for an ultrasound to check for ovarian cancer because of the bloating. That all came back fine.
It's horrible. I can feel it all gurgling away inside of me.
My poo is yellow too which can't be normal although I can't remember if I mentioned that to my gp.......with the not being able to eat much and now vomiting my brain is pretty useless

I'm not a doctor (or a vet) but if you were a dog I'd put money on you having pancreatitis. Symptoms (in dogs!) include abdominal pain, lack of appetite, yellow poo and vomiting.

INeedNewShoes · 07/12/2016 11:37

Tigers I actually think you need to see another doctor quite urgently. Use your private health cover to see a gastro specialist. Or if you can't afford the excess get an emergency appointment to see another GP today or tomorrow.

Badders123 · 07/12/2016 11:41

Yep that's what's concerning me too

CarrieMayBe · 07/12/2016 11:46

Is your poo difficult to flush away? I've got to be honest, your symptoms are similar to pancreatic cancer which I lost my mum to. I am not saying that's what you have, it could be anything, but they certainly shouldn't be ignored by Drs. You need proper investigations done and you need to demand those if the Drs are refusing.

Please push for a referral or use your private healthcare. Don't ignore this.

tigersbuddy · 07/12/2016 12:09

Can't say I have had any problems with flushing poo.
my dad died of cancer......when they found it he was so riddled with it they don't know where it started but he had it in his bowels and was only 45 when he died so I do worry about that. My boss has been so lovely. She thinks we get private Skype gp appointments through work so is going to look into it and call me later. They can then give me a referal to a specialist.

I feel really horrible to my dr, he's a nice guy........I just need this sorted now. When I saw the out of hours gp she said she thought cancer was unlikely as I had bloods done a few months back and they came back fine.

I echo others see a private Consultant ASAP, preferably a Gastroenterologist. Actually with your dad's history it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to have a colonoscopy anyway.

MollyHuaCha · 07/12/2016 14:13

Good luck. Hope you feel much better soon Smile

Darklane · 07/12/2016 14:35

Not being funny but one of my dogs had the exact same symptoms you describe a few months ago & it was pancreatitis. He had to be hospitalised. You really need to pester your doctor. If it is that it's serious.
We used to have a hopeless GP too, one man practice, nightmare! Luckily he's retired now.

tigersbuddy · 07/12/2016 14:36

Had a really long soak in the tub this afternoon and am feeling a lot more human. Hopefully I will get some answers soon. Thank you for all the comments and help posted

He may be a nice guy but he is NOT following nice guidelines at all!

sumsumsum · 07/12/2016 16:25

Can anyone link to the relevant NICE guidelines please? Think they might help the OP and others (like me!)

Badders123 · 07/12/2016 16:32

Just google nice clinical practise guidelines for adult acute onset abdo pain.
IMO his dr has been negligent
There is another thread running ATM and a poor woman has been of left for weeks in pain and is now in a and e and they are saying pancreatitis!
It's dreadful!

Joz157 · 07/12/2016 18:03

Hi firstly yellow poo is a sign that your waste is going through your system too quickly. I'm just wondering if you are getting kidney stones. They affect everyone differently. I get lost of pain and then the stone passes and it's like it never happened but my son is Ill for days with a lot of sickness.
It could be ibs or diviticular. Not sure if I've spelt it right. Try buscapan you can but it over the counter and it's for bloating and cramps.
But do get checked out by another doctor or even a and e they would do a scan while you were there.

tdm1 · 07/12/2016 18:19

I have no med qualifications at all, but my father recently had a twisted gut with similar symptoms and was sent home from hospital on painkillers, then admitted to intensive care the next morning - very serious and discovered just in time! So I have no idea whether this is relevant to you, but definitely don't accept your GP's brushoff.
