Anybody else got a hideous facial rash?

This is DS2, not me, thank god! - we can't tell if it's an allergic reaction to the various unguents he has been plastering round his sore mouth (from licking lips during cold snap) or if it could possibly be something viral. It's like a red mask right across the lower half of his face now, and goes spottily down his neck to his chest so if it is a reaction it's a bit extreme, but anyway GP has prescribed antihistamines and antibiotics, he thinks it's an infected allergic reaction (???)

DS1 was up puking half the night and had a thumping headache to go with that - no rash though! - I'm wondering if they could have been afflicted differently by the same thing, is this possible???

sounds like it to me, even the same virus can effect people in different ways, if that makes any sense

I've just got rid of this rash - lower part of face, neck and forearms. I took piriton which didn't work so I ruled out an allergic type of reaction and decided it was viral. It took a week to go. It was red and bumpy to the touch like a heat rash. I had no other symptons apart from feeling a little sick but had had a cold and cough the week before. I googled it and found I had small pox and had 4 days to live but iI'm still here.

Oh thanks, lmb I thought it could but wasn't sure. DS1 has stopped throwing up but has been asleep for hours now, DS2 keeps reclining with a cold wet flannel over his face!

nikkie's dd/s has slapped cheek with puking - here - sounds sort of similar.

Yes, RLYL, that's exactly what it's like! Prickly heat-type rash (but it was more spotty and less raised and warm when we saw the GP this morning)

I wonder if it's worth continuing with the pills then...?

Any sore throat ? If so could eb strep throat or Scarlet fever

Not that they've mentioned, Liz - DS2 (rashy one) is fine apart from the rash, currently wolfing down a takeaway curry. DS1 is much poorlier but still asleep so I can't ask.
