Aibu..should I accept what my doctor says?

Hi all. I'm 39, it has been determined that my thyroid is failing and barely hanging on. To be retested in Jan.
I am worried that I may also have crohns disease..ive had tummy issues for a long time and I just put it down to ibs. I've always been extremely tired never seeming to get enough sleep. I have recently discovered my grandad had crohns and he eventually passed away when I was 7 from bowel cancer. My sister also has crohns. I'm getting most of the symptoms..Sometimes spending most of my day dashing to the loo.
I keep getting tendonitis in my shoulder and hip pain to the point I can not walk on it.
My doctor says he doesn't think I have crohns as I'm too well?? As I have researched different people have different experiences and degrees of crohns depending on whether it is active and where the irritation is. My grandad lived quite an active lifestyle and was never visibly poorly as such. I just feel he isn't really listening..I feel unwell 90% of the time..I'm bloated..and it can be very embarrassing when I'm out and my body decides to break wind..it's not pleasant and dashing to the loo. Aibu..should I just accept that I probably just have ibs or should I insist they look into it.

Apologies if anyone else has mentioned this but it is crucial for you to have your January Thyroid bloods taken early in the morning;7 am if possible.
Your TSH level is highest in the early hours and falls during the day naturally; so there is zero point in having later day thyroid bloods taken.

Also, many people are very sensitive to gluten although they test negative for Coeliac Antibodies. Especially those who have/ struggle with hypothyroidism.

Following a gluten free diet may really improve your symptoms and may increase your iron absorption. You mention that you are becoming anaemic in your latest post.

Also, have you had bloods for B12 & Folate ? Vitamin D? Iron stores (Ferritin levels) ?
A lot of these deficiencies/autoimmune disorders co-exist with hypothyroidism & even on their own can cause crushing fatigue.
Good luck OP

They are not open at 7am. The earliest I could get in would be 8.30am. As far as I know it was a full blood count and testing for anything abnormal. Just waiting on my stool sample results now.

Your dr needs a serious slap!
If your TSH is high your thyroid needs some flipping help, not left to get worse and make you awfully ill.
Did you get any actual figures from him?
Did you get your T3 levels?
I just can not understand why he would wait to see how much worse it will get, when he can start a more gentle treatment plan now and hopefully get your levels back within range quicker.

6.2 tsh didn't say about any others said they were low..all indicating under active thyroid he said. He explained that in order to get the right levels for me he wants to check my bloods again because if they put me on too high a dose, it may cause the opposite. I sat there for nearly 30mins asking questions and pushing him for answers. I said my diet is good I eat lots of veg and fruit but he said there's not much iron in veg and I should eat more red meats...well where to Vegetarians get their iron from then. I think he really talks rubbish a lot of the time.

You are being treated very poorly by your GP. PLEASE LOOK AT WEBSItE Thyroid UK. You need your B12, ferritin and vit D checked and get the results. You also need FT4 and FT3 checked. Your TSH is well above range. GPs often wait for the thyroid to fail completely but you know you aren't well now and he should treat you or refer you to an endocrinologist.

I had symptoms similar to yours and I had h. pylori.
