Does anyone know anything about this or have experience? We are currently waiting for appointment with consultant to deals specifically with this type of cancer.

Cancer has been found in the lymph nodes in the neck via biopsy but CT/PET scans etc show no found primary.

What should we expect from next appointment and any suggestions what we should ask?

Should we be expecting treatment and possible remission or is this likely to be treatment but no cure at this stage?

TIA

My best friend is 49 shehas been fighting 9 years, now we do chemo to buy time she works f/t in a school apart from chemo days and has 2 preteen dd's and 2 adult ds's
We have organised the funeral and we laugh everyday. It's crap really crap but it's all we have FlowersCakecake because we have it before chemo at a new place every week

I did joke to Mum at least she knows she can drink at Xmas as chemo isn't til after!

She does like a double vodka at the pub before cooking Xmas dinner!
Plus drinks with dinner and a few to get over us all visiting with her grandsons!!!

Sounds like you and your friend have the right attitude. My best friend has a lifelong condition which will require her to have a transplant at some point. So she really does understand. I've had a good chat to her this evening.

I have never heard of CUP until this thread, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am for you both. I hope your mum has many comfortable and happy years ahead of her youare

Flowers for you all!

Laughter and cake and huge amounts of red wine ( consultants orders I swear ) are the only way, tears come but only for awhile before laughter takes over. I bought her a sweatshirt for her birthday that said " of course they are fake the real ones tried to kill me" she wears it to every chemo.
I also bought her a crop top after her reconstruction as they used stomach tissue so she has perky tits and a flat stomach Grin
We modelled the rebuild on my massive ample boobs by me flashing the consultant and her saying " I want these "
I hope I've made you smile, find the funnies wherever you can they are always there

Hi I have a slightly more encouraging story. I had the exact same thing in 2011. I found a lump in my neck - felt a bit like a swollen gland - completely painless. As it didn't go I eventually went to the doctor who said "I don't know what it is - but I don't like it" and sent me to the hospital.
To cut a long story short - I was diagnosed with CUP (after many tests etc) My consultant said he was looking at a cure for the secondaries in the lymph nodes in my neck - so I went ahead with a radical neck dissection, chemo and 33 sessions of radiotherapy. I have now been cancer-free for almost 5 years and feel totally fine!
I wrote a blog whilst I was going through all this - if you want the long version check it out!
pokerlibrarian.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/one-girl-one-cup.html
It's a bit tricky reading it from back-to-front so I turned it into an ebook on Amazon to try to raise money for The CUP Foundation - the only place I managed to find help and info on CUP. amzn.to/2dTmccH
Hope this helps a little! If you want to ask me anything - please feel free :-) xx

Oh wow thanks for that Berni
I'll definitely have a read. Also massive congratulations for the 5 years free of cancer.

We have been told the fact mum isn't ill is encouraging.
